I miss the barf furniture 858s, what's next?

I'll just come out and say it. I loved my 858NR partially because of the barf style furniture. I'm sad that I sold it but slightly glad because I just missed keeping it into the prohibition.

I want this again....

Am I completely out of the loop here or is someone going to be bringing back ol barfy in such a great quantity as when we had the 858s?

Yes, CZ958 has all the barfwood you want. 50% more glue and fake wood chips!!! In several years it may be approved by the RCMP for sale :nest:

I agree totally. I love my 858 and glad i never sold it. I looked at a vz one day and it felt like a paintball gun in comparison. The 858 is a solid gun. The vz felt like it was going to fall apart if i shot it.
 
The 958 is like the tapco'ed and full of NC star stuff SKS of the VZ58 world.

Don't need all these ugly mods imo. A good old 858 with a non prohib receiver would have done the job.

Ditching that AR stock was the best thing I done to mine.

I haven't handled an 858, but I can definitely say my VZ58 in 7.62x39 is as solid as any other rifle I have, nothing flimsy or flaky about it. I was going to pick up the beaver barf furniture, but I think she looks good enough as is. Maybe if I ever get a 7.5" or 11.8", I'll dress 'er up different.

I modded up my 858, but I have to say, I do miss it in it's original configuration. I don't regret modding it up, I just want it both ways. Kind of want a restricted Vz 58 in the gun's original configuration now.

Does anyone else find this gun completely ugly? the receiver is just a big ugly railed rectangle.. lol has like a 2" squared edge drop to the stock.
 
I believe Wolverine Supplies said they submitted one to the RCMP lab in Oct 2013. Yes, 2013.
Make your own conclusions what is going on.
 
Best thing I did was put NOS wood on my VZ58. Just feels/looks better in my opinion. Many like the tactical look, I prefer wood on my Red Rifles.
