I miss the barf furniture 858s, what's next?

I always go by that a gun looks better in person than in pictures. I can't believe how many times I thought a gun was ugly in pictures until I saw it in person. The Glock would be a fine example of that.

I disliked the beaver barf. I like real wood or the m4 style furniture on those guns. Thinking about picking one or two up again. Sad I sold my 858, but happy that I did before it got banned. And no, both the vz 58 and 858 are rock solid guns. No difference between them. Whoever said otherwise is smoking something.

I sanded and refinished the beaver barf in ebony, came out decent after a bunch of coats. Of course, it's not real wood so didn't absorb the stain very well. It did get darker and look better though.

Nothing beats real wood (my FSN-01 15.5" VZ58). Once I refinished and installed real wood on my VZ, I appreciated the rifle so much more. I have polymer AR15 style rifles but the older Red Rifle designs look best in wood.

I got to handle one in the gunshop, loved it, but couldn't afford it. Put it back on the shelf. I *could've* put it on layaway, been kicking myself ever since.
Agree completely with the hate on the plastic stock. The beaver barf was so freakin ugly it was cool!

Whenever I`m sitting at my desk in the ole`gun room, I look at my CZ858 and thank the Queen`s beans it was stamped "06" !!

One of my projects is to make some nice solid wood furniture, probably Black Cherry ,and remove the folding stock and forearm set and make it like it should be.......WOOD !

I still have all the beaver barf stuff ,so that will make it easier to use as templates.

Just can`t beat an original.

Ironwood makes some beautiful stuff for around $225 US + shipping and up (yes they ship here). Choice of wood and large/regular pistol grip. Quality stuff.

I like the barf and the stock shape of the pistol grip and buttstock. Fit's me like a glove.
I wouldn't be opposed to some nice wood as long as it's the same shape and size as the original furniture but overall the barf is a distinguishing feature of the VZ/CZ's.

Same size, just a little bit heavier. Better balance and weight with the wood if you ask me. If you are shooting in a rain forest or extremely humid conditions, just make sure the wood is sealed really nice.
