I must be the best dad ever !!!

If you're going as far as you have, spring some bux for a new trigger. Have essentially the same gun, will teach the wife to shoot using it. However, the standard 10/22 trigger on mine is 12 1/2 pounds pull (more like 'yank' than 'pull'!). On second thought, perhaps teaching the wife to shoot is an unwise decision? Mind you, if she wanted to off me, she could just use the bread knife on me in my sleep!

Do you know how the 10 year old mind works? I'm sure in another 10 years he will love to have the old lakefield that was his father's first rifle. Right now though I'm sure he would rather have a super cool 10/22 than an old single shot.

I received my grandfathers cooey when I was 10 (pretty special out of 16 male granchildren and I'm somewhere in the middle). I painted it black with tremclad in the basement. Sure wish I had never done that now.

The single shot is the reason I can shoot so well today though, while my friends were dumping mags out of their semi's I was actually killing the gophers.
