I must have ripped someone off...

So I was cleaning out my truck and found a bunch of receipts. I was having a peek through them and something caught my eye. Now let me preface this by saying I am an IT guy and I spend a great deal of time on the interwebs... I read not too long ago that Alliant would not be sending more powder to Canada for years and also saw some Alliant powder for sale for like $50 a pound and then heard an explanation of it being priced at like more than $40 and as mentioned earlier not being available and all that stuff.

Generally being the sucker I am, I believe everything I read on the internet so here I am with receipt in hand wondering how it's possible that just over a month ago I bought Reloder 17 and Reloder 22 at just $22 a pound. Did I rip somebody off? I don't get it. This mystical powder, apparently not available in Canada I just bought at less than half the price someone said it's worth. Not only that but it was a *FIRM* $22... not $22.50 or $22.99 but a *FIRM* $22.00.

I am not much of a religious person but I am seriously considering going to some kind of confession somewhere to try and get forgiven for ripping someone off for powder which isn't available.

BAH! I just called Lawry's and they still have RL-17 in stock and for the same $22 per pound I paid for it a month ago.

Lol, nice!

You should repent by giving me 1 lb of that herco powder!!

I wish I could but I think I will need more than I have now. I have already gone through more than 2 pounds of the Herco. In the pic below you can see another 100 12g slugs which are 25gn of Herco each and then there's 20-30 20g slugs that I just got the mold for and have to start working up a load and then a hundred or so 45's that are going to get lubed and sized later today. I'll most likely cast a few more hundred of those after the kids go to bed tonight.

I hope your not casting those 45s with a single cav mold! I thought it was bad enough casting with a 2 cav mold....

It's actually a brand new Lee 6 Cavity mold. It's my third one now. I have wore out the other two I have. I go through one of these every year or two. I figure I cast in the neighbourhood of 30,000 bullets per mold I have before I need to "retire" them.

"...am an IT guy..." Programmer? Only a programmer would believe what they read on the 'net. Snicker.

Naaa... Storage/Network Engineer for the largest virtualization company in the world. I get to tell people "just because you can afford a million dollar SAN doesn't mean you know how to size it or set it up" :)

I thought my eyes were deceiving me (or that the site was outdated) also when I was searching for available powder sources and found where you bought yours... They obviously sharpened their pencil more, or they have an overstocked supplier to sell for those prices. At those prices it would not be a loss to travel from Kingston to there for a large order especially since local sources are few, and then are not receiving much stock.

I thought it was weird how cabelas had Alliant listed on their website as though it had been discontinued. I don't know where I'd be without 2400, unique, RL7 and Bullseye.

...well, titegroup can replace bullseye, I guess... Not sure what works like 2400 for cast in rifles, though. I was going to try 5744, but at $40/lb it's an expensive habit to cultivate.

Fortunately Henry is getting some 2400 in. I should have ordered more than 3 pounds...

Not anymore they don't. I bought every last pound. Look for it for sale in the EE shortly.

Lol, whew!

While I agree the world revolves around making money off others, I sure don't have to like it when someone feels its ok to profit from another's need. There is nothing worse than a person that will make use of another's hard times for monetary gain. Makes me ill.

For example, someone hits hard times and is having trouble feeding his family, a so called friend, that is well off, offers to buy an asset at 25% it's value only to turn it around for a 300% profit. Will not share his buyers info, nor any $$ from the profit. I know that's not quite the same as the powder, but if I had found lots of powder at a good price, I would be forwarding it at cost to those that need it, especially friends and CGNers!!

personally I wouldn't have a problem if someone was asking 100 per pound. It's called a free market,
Supply and demand economics, I wouldn't have thought right wing gun owners would have such a difficult time with the concept.
