Well I've finally decided I can't go another month without having a 1911. Just don't know what to get. I allotted myself a budget of $1300. I'd like to have something with a rail if possible. I've been looking at two sigs from wolverine. These are the two.

Anyone be able to tell me any differences between the two other than grips and one trigger is straight. I've also looked at the SAM thunderbolt. The price is very attractive. Are the sigs going to be worth the extra money? So please help me solve this craving. Feel free to chime in with any other suggestions.

It goes without saying that sig makes an excellent pistol, and i actually prefer their 1911's to any other of their handguns, except the 210....which my wife would shoot ME with if i purchased right now.

(edit) actually those are both pretty good prices for the sig 1911's, couple hundred better then i've seen them before. you won't be dissappointed.

That being said, i think you get more 1911 for your money with kimber or springfield. You don't pay as much for their names on the gun.

I've shot the new remington 1911's and have been very impressed with their accuracy for the price, esp the performance model that just hit canada these last few months.

If you like stainless the rugers are a good buy too.

Both of the last two mentioned will leave you cash in hand to blow on ammo. Never a bad thing. OH, i just realized you where looking for a rail....ok, scratch the last two....lol

At your price range there are no bad guns, just preferences. Does STI make any rail guns? might be worth a look.

Have fun, nice to have cash in hand and go gun hunting :D

A rail isn't absolutely necessary. I'd like to have one but not a big deal if I don't. Not much for stainless. Can a new kimber be had for under 1300? I'm a newb when it comes to a 1911 so I need all the help and advice I can get.

shooter's choice sold on on sale two weeks ago for 875

I see epps has a pro carry for less then a grand, and a few other's round the 1300

not sure who carries springfield these days.

Take a look at the remington performance guns with the modern beaver tail, 850 at shooters choice in kitchener

What are going to be the differences between say the sigs for around 1300 versus a kimber or colt at the same price range.

name. the colt will hold resale because it has a pony on the side but it won't shoot any better, if as well as the other two. For reliability i'd take the kimber or sig over the colt. Plus, i've never owned a colt that didn't draw blood with sharp edges....

Ok so seems like kimber might be the way to go. I do really like the look of them. Any idea where to get a Custom TLE/RL II. Shooters choice has one but in stainless.

I'll give another vote for Kimber as well. I knew my first gun had to be a 1911 but I was really hesitant to spend a lot. After handling some of the cheaper options I decided since it was going to be my regular shooter that I probably should fork over a little extra for an overall better firearm. I'm really glad I did. I love Kimber Stainless II! The fit and finish is awesome. In fact, my cousin who owns a Dan Wesson and a number of Colts was so impressed he's been considering getting one too just cause of how solid mine felt. Calgary Shooting Centre had a Kimber open house a few weeks back and after playing with a few of the demo models, I'm itching to get a carry or compact model now.

My only gripe is it only comes with one magazine where some of your other options in the same price range come with two.

And while I certainly like a lot of the Sig models, if you ever decide to get a holster for it many molded holsters may not fit them as they would other 1911s.

And for the record, I think everyone needs a 1911 :D

A 1911????
I think everyone needs a couple at least...looking for my third and really likeing the R1 enhanced

"I need a 1911". I don't know how many times I have said that to my wife, except it is usually more like, "I need another 1911". I currently have a couple. My customized Colt seems to follow me to the range everytime I go. A SR1911 is high on my bucket list though as would be an Remington R1.

I know that feeling, but I'm at a point where she says I need to liquidate toys if I want to bring a new one in. Can't sneak them in anymore, for a die hard anti gun person, she sure seems to know enough about them!

My personal favorite shooter is a beater Springfield Mil Spec I bought a couple years ago on the ee. There are fancier pistols for sure, but its my ol' faithful.

I too have a couple, and its an addiction.

I have a like new Kimber Eclipse Target 2 listed on here that I paid over $1500.00 for.I am letting it go for $1125.00 shipped.I only fired around 200rnds through it...

I am leaning towards an STI. The Lawman in .45acp is looking mighty fine. Just needs a magwell and possibly a tritium front sight.
