As the title says, some one send me a thread protector, please and thank you. I know one of you guys have one collecting dust.

I melted mine.

Works for me. You still owe me a brake anyway. ;)

The reason I melted mine is I had the TIG just a bit too hot. I have an AK74 brake and I tried to lazy mount it. I bored out the AK threads and pressed in my thread protector. I then tried to weld it and melted the first few threads a bit. :redface:

When TIG welding, make sure you can see what you are doing. I'll be the first to say I suck at TIG welding.
 
u might be able to get a machinist to make for cheap, barter for something like some beer, or offer to take him shooting one day?

Ha, I am a machinist. I'm just lazy. Why build something when I can get a kind soul to send me a free one?
