I need a little help with this .....Mauser

Wow, I learned something new today. I didn't know Germany (West Germany for that matter) was marking firearms like this carbine in the 1960s-70s. Was it a requirement before being sold onto the private market ?

Any firearm, which is imported (from most countries) to Germany has to be proofed (some exception apply, see the list).

Sort of makes my prized Kar 98a look positively decrepit!

All I can contribute to this is that there is a huge gun shop/publishing house located in Schwabische Hall and that some of this stamping may relate to them. Can't recall the exact name right now. Waffen Frankonia? Forget. Anyway, that looks to me more like a dealer's marking; a Service marking would be more evenly applied.

you are right, it is the Deutsches Waffen Journal (DWJ).

As you, I do also believe that the marking is from a dealer or importer...
