I need a new 9mm-full size-opinions?

CZ 85C fits your wants/needs. Also the CZ Shadow is very popular but does not come factory equipped with adjustable sights.

Not a fan of the CZ's, my mother-in-law has an SP-01 and I don't like it. Too clunky and not esthetically pleasing. I respect that they are very well made and reliable, not for me. Thanks for the input so far, keep it coming. I don't want to buy something and find out there was something I didn't consider.

What line of thinking, sticking with the same brand of pistol and keeping the same manual of arms? What's not to get. It minimizes training time for both operation and maintenance. For some their firearms are tools not toys. Fit is not important for marksmanship, mastering the fundamentals is.

Back to the OT. I agree with the above, if you run a Glock now, get the full size. If you want to shake it up, try something else.

I agree with both of you on some levels. A Glock 34 is one of the contenders, as is a Sig Blackhawk Tac, but make no mistake-this is a hobby for me. I am ex-military, but these days my training consists of readying/ loading my 1911 in the dark, knowing the layout of my house in the dark, and clearing jam/ stoppages blindfolded. Variety is the main theme in my cabinet. Some of the ideas coming out here are eye-opening, things I haven't considered...GP6 eh....P7M8....hmmmm. Keep em' coming. Thanks.

Fit can affect performance. I have taken formal training courses when the instructor eventually got me hitting torso sized steel plates at 50 yards...one handed. The gun I in those courses used fit my small hand much better than my Glock 19.

Given good fundamentals there are guns that allow me to more consistently apply those fundamentals under stress than ones that don't fit me as well.

This concept of getting a gun that suits/fits YOU and your skill is nothing new. Massad Ayoob had articles on this even in the 90's. I do agree that with good fundamentals, you can competently shoot most pistols. However if a certain gun's features/fit allows you to maximize your fundamental skill and it is a good combat pistol that's tough and reliable, then why not use that one???

Not all CZ-75Bs are clunky or esthetically plain.

The CZ was not my first choice. (I have a g17 among others)
but this particular CZ is by far my favorite. The polycoat ones. Not so much.

The CZ SP-01/Shadow are angled/square-ish but so are Glocks which I view to be fugly. Which is a cross between ugly & funny looking :p. The CZ 75/85 series pistols are dead ###y  and made of steel and not plastic. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

Springfield XD. I shoot it better than the glock. Buying a gun is strictly a personal preference. I would suggest going to a gun range and trying all they have available. I did that and it was between the XD and the SP-01. Went with the XD for its reliability.

I agree that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I do respect all steel construction. But CZ's don't feel good to me. That stainless one looks pretty sweet though. I got weird hands, short fingers and big palms. Lol.

I'm very happy with my M&P 9. If you decide to get this model, I feel that it's worth the time to order the version that doesn't have the stupid mag safety or the integrated lock.

I agree with you about personal preference. I started this thread to get other peoples opinions about their chosen 9's, so I consider all possible choices. I have many pistols .45's, .40's, .357's, .44's and .22's. I even have a couple of collectible 9's. What I'm looking for is a new full size "go to" 9mm. I wanna know why people like theirs.

Why do I like it? It's internally very similar to most modern autoloading pistols. Striker fired like Glock Safe Action. So every trigger press is exactly the same. The ergonomics are great. It's a very comfortable gun to hold and the grip size is adjustable. I can reach all of the controls with my stumpy little midget thumbs without changing my grip, and the mag release is ambi, so I moved it to the right side of the frame and dump the mags with the middle finger of my strong hand. Nice deep serrations for cycling the action, and a slight taper so it works well in the holster. And it's cheap.

HK P2000 LEM.

small...actually a medium frame gun. Very reliable and rugged. Adjustable grip allows it to fit my hand perfectly. The light LEM actually gives me equal or maybe slightly better trigger control than even a Single Action trigger. Very accurate. I recently took 2 Defensive Handgun courses with it and 2000 rounds later than was only one operator induced malfunction, it was accurate enough to hit 50y torso sized steel plates one handed, handled all the grit and abuse of training course.

If it was available with Cocked and locked safety like the USP compact , it would be 100% perfect but so far I prefer it to any other gun, even a 1911 which has always been one of my top favorite guns which allows me to maximize the basic skills I have.

The obvious answer is a Glock (19 or, if you prefer, a 17).

If you don't want another Glock, respectfully, I submit this:
