okay so a have a 18'' M305, at the moment im installing a blackfeather rs, i will be running a magpul PRS stock and the blackfeather LSP. i want to scope this rifle and be able to use iron sights as well. i wont be able to run factory sights due to the blackfeather LSP. i dont like the idea of shooting with 15 degree offset sights either. so my idea is i want to run a scope (2-10 ish) and have detatchable scope mount with flip up sights. has anyone done this and if so do you have any pictures and recommendations? i like the idea of haveing best of both worlds ie. i can remove the scope and bipod and have a fun shooter for plinking with buddys or slap the scope and bi pod on and shoot groops. forgive my lack of knowlage i am new to this.

thanks in advance

Hi. Detachable scope mounts tend to need sighting in again every time you take 'em off and put 'em back on. High or 'see through' rings tend to keep you from having your head in the right place for either irons or optics. An 18" carbine doesn't need a bipod.
MB's CPFO giving ATT's for restricted rifles? Just curious. A lot of Provinces will not.

18" m305's are not restricted here. Putting the blackfeather chassis on it wouldn't make it restricted would it?? If so I'll go back to my synthetic stock

I think the OPs M305 is 18.5" so non-restricted. No need to split hairs.

Kroeger - I think that if you put a good variable power scope with a minimum power of 2x or 3x, you will find little use for back-up iron sights. A little work in finding a scope that has a decent eye-box at lower magnifications and I think that you will never find a use for your BUIS. Just spend the $150 on better glass. Remember that BUISs are meant to be used when your primary optic fails, not as a short-range sighting system. Also look at the 1-6x and 1-7x optics that folks are using for 3 gun - expensive but fast and flexible.

Huh? ...and what's this about ATT's for restricted rifles? Please explain.

Because the OP keeps forgetting or doesn't know his socom 18 is in fact a socom 18.5

Thus the other remark a couple posts up referring to splitting hairs LOL
An 18" barrel on an m305 makes it fall into restricted thus needing an ATT
