i need help guys AR -15 logo

well i brought a chinese ar-15 two weeks ago and going to replace a barrel with something more ###y like a 14 in carbine barrel. but i also like to get rid of fugly norinco logo on lower receiver one on letf side but i am worry that it might be illegal or might cause structural weakness on lower receiver. help please guys! :slap::runaway:
 
The best way to get rid of that logo is to go buy a Stag rifle :D

You've got what you've got. I'd leave it as is. If you try and grind it off, then you're left with refinishing the rifle. Which we all know means a can of spray paint from Canadian tire. I think we can all predict how that will look. However it might look good with some duct tape accents :D.

It's just a logo. You might want to try the acrylic paint or white crayon treatment to make it stand out :). This way people will just see the white, and no one would think you'd do that with a Norinco. :D

A more ### statement was never made. The myth that tacticool guns make one's ##### larger has been disproven many times, trust me I measured and its a falacy.

Build a really cool upper and tweak the rifle so it shoots well and then kick the a**'s of all the guys who go " You built it on a Norinco, Your ####'s gonna fall off!!"

Obviously the Norinco logo is an eye sore. Somehow I doubt its because of the design, I think it has more to do with the brand itself. In all the 3 gun matches I've shot, I have yet to see a Norinco AR function through 2 complete mags without a failure.

Its your money..

well, i have not been this site for few days and this is what i got. wow thank you for so usufull tips(also really thank you that some of you that actually try to help me).
i am guessing "why the hell you buy something like chinese rusty piss bucket. "well he must be really cheap" not really! i am paying more money for this a rifle.( i have HK UMP,sig pe90, hk ag36, had two M-4s and a tar 21 on the way so i am not trying to save two, three handreds $)
i want US air force guu-p5 carbine and i cant not find m16a1 rifle to do so.
thank you guys i thought you guys are pro but i might be worng.
 
I was wondering about the legality of stuff like that as well. Say you wanted to take a Norc 1911 cause of the good frame and were planning to get it hard nickel plated but wanted to remove all the "Imported by Norinco" stuff on the side so it buffed up nice.
As kwonnypooh asked, is it illegal to remove everything but the serial number?
 
I think as long as the serial number is visable and unalterd you should be ok. This might be a better question to post in the gunsmithing forum. I'm sure a few guys there would know.

I say leave it as is. I don't mind the looks of the Norinco logo. I've thought about picking one up myself just for giggles.

If the logo really bothers you than I'd get in touch with the Armacoat guys. They have a product that's specifically used as a filler(kind of like the Bondo comment above). After everything is all smooth than Armacoat in the colour of your choice.

It might be best to ask about filling in logos in the legalese section.

I am not a lawyer but... removing the Norinco name might not be a good legal idea. Serial numbers can be the same on different brands of guns. You could have a Colt 1911 with serial number 12345 and a Springfield 1911 with the same number. Removing the brand name would make it rather hard to tell which is which.

Covering up the name or logo without actually removing it would be alright IMHO. Use black tape, a sticker, crayon, felt or whatever.

Filling it in with a non-removable material would be the same as grinding it off. Don't do it.
