I need help with disassembly of a Smith and Wesson SW40F pistol. One of the springs has unlatched and now the trigger no longer engages. I can see the spring and its not broken but I'm not sure how to disassemble the slide. Can you guys help? Any pics would be appreciated.

How far down have you disassembled? For what it's worth, the owner's manual is available online at S&W (Though in a somewhat obscure place... smith-wesson.com/wcsstore/SmWesson/upload/other/S&W_Sigma_Pistol_Manual_06_02_08.pdf

But that won't get you any further than field-stripping I think.

I believe I just need to get the slide off but aint budging. Maybe I'm not putting enough force? It will slide forward as per manual but will not unleash from the rest. I can see the spring. My fault for pulling out the pin that holds the spring in and now it has become undone. I need to get the slide off but for some reason I cannot get it off.

It's almost exactly like a Glock, so as I recall, you need to pull the trigger before disassembling. Now, the trouble is in fact in your trigger, so you might be in a bit of a sticky wicket.

Thanks for the replies. The trigger is what I thought too. The trigger is no longer engaged and hangs loose. Stupid me for pulling out the pin. When I originally tried to disassemble it, it would not budge either so instead of reading the manual(thoroughly), I pulled the pin. On the Glock, it was nice and easy but this one did not budge originally. Is there any way of getting it out now or will I need professional help? If they are jus going to break things to make it come apart, then I may as well jus do it myself.
