I'm a plinker and mostly a pistol shooter except for a 10/22 and am currently looking for something cheap but fun to shoot. I'm tired of .22lr's as they don't have enough bang so I was hoping to find an AR chambered in 9mm (easy on the pocket) but I'm finding the Colt SMG's in 9mm seem to be a little more rare than my wallet can afford. Otherwise, I don't know what I'm looking for. If any of you folks would be kind enough to give me some insight into something interesting that might appeal to me, I would appreciate it very much.

Thanks for your time,
Tim.

Colts carry a premium price tag, but you may prefer the RRA tariff from Mark at Questar.

I have the CX4 Storm and love it, although the trigger isn't nearly as nice as a good match AR-15. The CX4 is cheaper, and the mags are probably as cheap or cheaper than the RRA 10 round mags.

Get a CX Storm and get the extended barrel to make it non-restricted, cost around $1300-1500 and you get 10 rds mags with it!

On the AR platform, you can get also find Olympic Arms in 9mm. They take Glock mags. I love mine :dancingbanana: . According to the website, they're available in .40 and .45 as well  .
As other's have said, there is Ruger's PC-9 (butt fugly :runaway: ) and the CX4 Storm (less fugly, needs a better buttstock).

(E)

If you don't care about the Restricted/non-Restricted aspect, the RRA 9mm is great and tons of FUN. Just wish the AR wasn't Restricted.

The CX4... try one first. I tried the rental and another member's and I hated the thing both times. :(

Olympic Arms? They ship to Canada now or have a distributor here now? If so, that would be COOL! They make a .45ACP upper. :ar15:

CAH,

Took me about 100 hours to construct, about $800 in total material and specialty tooling purchases.

Now, consider, most of my cuts were done by hand, and the milling was all done on a Sherline Mini-mill, which, is, well, underpowered.

With a full size mill, I expect that I'd be able to reproduce an even better copy in less than 1/3 of the time.

Oh, and that $800 includes the $250 for the 28" barrel blank that I got, of which, I needed only 8". So, I have enough barrel left for 2 more. (So theoretically, you can knock off about $160 or so.)

NS

+1 for the Beretta CX4 Storm

Get the Non-Restricted barrel conversion and you have a sweeet gun that's hard to beat.

cheap but fun to shoot

Nrrinco SKS $99
Case of Can AM ammo $200

you can't have more "cheap" "fun"

IF you have a bit more money spend 5 bills on a decent handgun, a pound of powder and a 1000 cast bullets.

If you just need to feel better about the umph of a 22lr go read the the 22lr vs turkey at 300 yd thread.

You really cant make a wrong choice guns sell as easy as they buy at market price.

I wonder why no one does?
Maybe because they make to much money selling the other brands for $1600+..
Why import a cheaper product and give people the option of giving you less profit.
What would an Olympic Arms 9mm cost...$1100? only $800 USD.
