I need one of these for a Mossberg shotgun.

If you have a fat face or are not placing your head in the correct position you will not achieve a good sight picture. I guess that's the benefit of staying fit and being properly trained.

Or they just don't work for every one as advertised.

This has been my experience with the MESA LEO adapter,Other stocks might not have this problem.

that was kind of ignorant... everyone has a different face making cheek welds and sight pictures an individual thing. I would hate for the guy to spend good money on something only to find it doesnt work with his current setup.

Fair enough. What I should have said was it is silly to advise a new shooter against a really good system based on the fact that that stock didn't work for one person. I have built many bead sighted shotguns for people using the LEO adapter and have had zero complaints. Bottom line is that for most "normal" people, the low tubes will work with the plain old bead. Further, here it is right from the website:

"The LEO adapter, manufactured for the Remington 870 and Mossberg 500/590 are our most popular models, and features a lowered stock elevation allowing the use of iron sights or even the bead sight."

In any case, you are correct that there is a slight chance the system might not work for the OP. Sometimes you have to roll the dice and take a chance on what you want. ;)

It is a good piece of kit, nobody said it wasn't, just not easy to use with a bead sight, irons are better be they rifle or ghost ring sights.

"allowing the use of iron sights or even the bead"
Say's allowing, not for the easy use of.

And what's with "even the bead" instead of just "the bead.

Then again maybe I not "most normal people"."f:P:

I new you would dissect that quote :D I read it the same way. I guess we will agree that it's a good item that may or may not work for everyone with their particular sight set up.

On another note, I would recommend a Hogue short LOP stock over that Mesa set up anyhow. It is cheaper and probably more comfortable to shoot, especially with heavy loads.

The Knoxx stock does not direct the recoil back at your face. If one were to read the instructions on the packaging for the knoxx stock it clearly warns you to not place your cheek within one inch of the hump where the tube meets the pistol grip portion because the "hump" will hit you in the face..
step 1- read the instructions
Skip step 1 and you get hit in the face.. just like "Nutnfancy"
I have one of these stock and it works really well , that being said the mesa tactical is a superior system as is the NEA version.

Knoxx Blackhawk has a new improved version that looks to address some of the slop and play in the tube.
Pretty hard to use a bead sight with the old one but it works better with a red dot so you can keep your head up....also works better with the stock shortened so there is less flex.
Bottom line is it's far from perfected and the next generation model is addressing some of the short comings.

Pistol grip stocks offer near zero advantage over conventional stocks. A good waste of money.

While that may be your opinion it doesn`t make it fact. Our LEO clients would tend to disagree with you.. They allow one handed control of your firearm, something very important in the Law Enforcement community. They also provide adjustable length of pull, again something that is required in many situations. maritime crews are using them again because they give you better control when you`re moving, or what you`re standing on is. If you have to take your hand off your weapon on a pitching ship, or to climb over something you`re rather ineffective.

For purely civilian applications, it allows better firing at unconventional angles and positions. Something that is being demanded in more and more 3-gun matches.

So while these advantages may not be something `you` feel is important, it hardly means that your statement mirror those of the rest of the professional & recreational shooting community. ;)
