The first time I ever shot my P220 it worked flawlessly. Now when I load a full mag or even just put a round in the chamber by hand, the slide won't come all the way forward when I #### the gun. It appears that the slide is too far to the left, when looking down the barrel, and it won't clear and get's stuck. I thought this problem was due to the ammo (winclean) I was using the second time I fired the pistol but I picked up a case of Federal FMJs and I'm getting the same problem. If I push and jiggle the slide it will pop into place allowing me to fire but it has turned my .45 auto into a PITA. Anybody heard of this happening before? I'm probably just going to go the easy way and ship it to SIG asap but I thought I'd check out the info here first. Thanks.

I don`t how the slide could go left? Sounds like it`s just tight, I would lube very liberally and half load the magazines. When you rack the slide let it catch on the slide lock and then use the slide lock to slam the round in hard.

I haven't touched the spring at all so that can't be the problem. I'm going to try slamming the slide forward as OZZ suggested but, obviously, I'll have to wait for a day at the range. I'll take some pics of the area that I think is the problem and post them asap. Thanks again.

It is difficult to understand exactly what you are describing. You do mention chambering a round by hand and then trying to close the slide. In general this is not a good idea and should be avoided. You should be inserting a loaded magazine and then allowing the slide to close under spring tension without hindering its forward movement. I prefer to use my hand to pull the slide to the rear and release, others prefer the slide release.
