I need some help for a newbe

The best safety on any firearm is between the ears of the person holding it.
I have an Inglis Hi-Power which is a single action 9mm and I love shooting it.
I also have a Taurus PT99 which is a single action / double action with a decocker and I love shooting it just as much as the Hi-Power.
If you want my unsolicited opinion..try as many handguns as you can. The Ruger might be a hell of a deal but if it's not comfortable or doesn't fit your grip good..it ain't worth a plugged nickle because you won't enjoy shooting it and thus won't practice..and there it will sit in your gun safe..if you don't sell it and begin the process all over again.

HI Jacky

I have a KP89D (stainless, decocker) the decocker blocks the firing pin from the hammer while simultaneously blocking the firing pin from movement towards the cartridge, allowing the hammer to drop safley. As far as I know the CZ75 has a safety only. I think you have to go with the CZ85 to get a decocker. This is one reason I went with the P89 I wanted a decocker. The P89 is SA/DA. The first shot is DA when the decocker is used. A DAO version is available.

An excellent gun for the money IMHO.

Hope this helps..check the Ruger web site or PM if you need anymore info.

Your right that feature would be nice but the CZ does not have that, your have a half #### safety and a regular safety but not a decocker, and the CZ is a double action first shot single action after.

Try some out first b4 making any decisions. Being a girl you may have small hands, alot of double stack type guns may not fit your hand comfortably. :)

And....where did you get that info from ?? :? Sorry to disappoint you but I am not a girl. If you are wondering about the name it is after jacky chiles the infamous lawyer on Seinfeld.

Now back to the questions. I have used a Beretta. If the gun was loaded you could flip a switch on the side and it would move a little block between the hammer and the firing pin. The hammer would slam down but nothing would happen. It was a nice feature. Does the Ruger have a similar feature? It sounds the same as written below.

However, on the Ruger site, it states that "The decock lever will only attain this
position when held down by the user." Now does this mean that you have to hold it down with your thumb :? The Beretta didn't need that ??

Thanks for all you help. This is great.

Jacky
