Hey,

I am looking to get holster certified. My local range (Target Sports) don't have any courses lined up any time soon, so i am looking for any other place that is offering this course.

i would love all the info i can get.

Hugs and Kisses,
Becca

Check with any club that offers IDPA, they usually have courses in the works. Try PM'ing Steve David or Cbabes, they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Contact Silverdale Gun Club. They have a holster certification course that I believe target sports will accept. It only takes a couple hours and you can set it up any time. Cheaper and quicker than the black badge course.

"Palmpalm" a member here did it with me awhile ago and he is a member at Target Sports.

+1 for cbabes. I went to watch some idpa drills he was running at the marksmen club, great guy. I'm going to get in on his holster course in march so maybe I'll see you there! that reminds me, I better send him a message before it's full!

If you want to trained for the use of a holster in a safety manner and get the most out of a course which will teach you all aspects of safe shooting with a holster and prepare you for any competition, forget about the quick few hours course. I've seen so many unsafe shooters at the range with a holster, and mostly [Not all of them] are from those who'd just completed a few hours holster course. Some even rack the slide [Empty chamber] behind another shooter not in a safe area.

Black Badge Course is a bit more expensive but you'll learn a great deal out of it. Of course, the choice is all yours:)

The Black Badge course will get you more than just the ability to wear a holster. I really enjoyed the work required to get through. I think it's a great confidence builder and shooting IPSC is so much fun it should be banned in Ontario. There are costs involved but much of the total is for ammo. You are required to shoot quite a bit over two days but isn't that what it's all about? Working your way through a fairly demanding exercise with other people is part of the prize. I'm very proud of my Black Badge and being an IPSC member allows me to compete in the US which is where I spend my winters.

Quick delete this post or his head will swell so bad he wont be able to fit in the yaris.

Sig_Girl, hopefully it's a go for march.

Be very carefull where you take a course to obtain a Holster certification.
Take a IPSC Black Badge Course or an IDPA course or you could just take a PPC course.
But to take a three hour holster certifiaction course is not good I know Our club will not exsept that as being a Holster certifaction, only the three I stated above would

If you have any questions you can always PM me, I will be happy to point you in the right direction.

Ok before you guys start spouting off about Silverdale's holster certification course it is taught by Scott Little who runs TDSA Canada, and is a pretty well respected pistol and tactical rifle instructor.

The focus of the course is safety and safety alone. It is basically just teaching you how to draw and holster a pistol without sweeping yourself and others as well as the basics of reloads and drawing but really not worrying about speed.

The benefit here is that this course can be set up with only a weeks notice(at least mine was) and it isn't a whole weekend or 2 day event, that you have to wait months to take.

I am in no way comparing this to something like the black badge course, but it is what it is, a holster certification course.
