I need to make a choice (Ruger mark IV Hunter vs mark IV competition )

I agonized over the same choice in the last few weeks - Competition vs. Hunter. I don't mind the looks of the slab side barrel but also didn't want it too heavy and like the grips on the Hunter more. Plus, it's what my LGS could get quickly (Competitions are maybe a couple of months out, who knows?).

So far very happy, going to do the volquartzen kit when I can get one, and would also like to swap out the rear sight to the squared one - Silverfoxdj, any hints on where to get the different rear blade?

My choice is the Hunter with the fluted barrel. I have a Mk III 22/45 with the fluted barrel and fiber optic sights.

Although the grip (with thumb rest) of the Competition looks nice (but may or may not fit your hand).

Either way, one button takedown of the Mk IV is a bonus.

Enjoy whichever your purchase decision becomes...

I had the opportunity to handle both today at P&D in Edmonton. The Competition grip is set up for "big mitts" and my hands are too small (for reference, my hands fit my Glock17 without back straps and my Shadow 2) as well as making access to the mag release button difficult.
