I now own a P99

Mine's in .40 and thus is not specially made for Canada with it's 106mm barrel. The 9mm versions you will notice that the barrel juts out from the slide like 2-3mm since the barrels are specially made for the Canadian market. I wanted to buy a Walther just for that reason...they care about us :)

the P99 is a great gun...

*you can see the barrel extension that Dustin reffered to that's on the 9mm gun

Jus tbought a 9mm from P&D after Christmas. They had a few in 9 and 40.

Are they any good? Bought for the wife to shoot.
I'd have thought you'd ask that beforehand...
I've heard of some troubles with the trigger mechanism, but that's it. Comfortable to hold, nice to look at...

I have about 10,000 rds through my first p99 and i just got a second one, both are in 9mm they are excelent gun IMHO.

This thread differs a fair bit from other P99 threads in the past. Many other times when someone mentioned he had received or was going to receive a P99, some people were quick to describe its shortcomings. They'd describe supposed issues with the trigger or the grip, or anything else to bash it.

That used to drive me nuts. While I used to read those threads I always thought, "Gee, my P99 seems great. What the hell are they talking about?" I loved the feel of my P99. I thought it was pretty damnaccurate too. (At least accurate enough for me.)

I hope you enjoy your new P99 for a real long time.

Back from the range.

Initial impression of the Walther was CRAP. First mag only fired 8 rounds, because we had jams. Failure to extract and failure to feed, and stove pipes.

But the wife had a great target. We're gonna keep it.

First 60-70 rounds we had lots of jams, failure to feed/extract, stove pipes. About the last 30, things went smoothly.

I found the front sight is too narrow, for filling in gap in the rear. It does come with a total of 3 blades for the front. Will have to look at em and see if one is wider.

I didn't get the good hits with the gun that my wife did. I couldn't put the hits where I wanted to. In saying that my wife shot better than me....... She is just a freak, so thats why she shot better with the gun.

Will have to find a gunsmith to do a trigger job on the P99, for trigger take up.

you'll have to get out to the range again and report to us if things go smoothly second time around...kinda sounding like it was just breaking in for the first 60-70...

P99 seems to be like Glock... you either like it or you don't. I like my 40... got the Walther laser from TSE also. Unlike the ones used in the movie "Underworld", mine does not have the full-auto sound dubbed in.

Just waiting for the wife to beautify herself, than we are off to the range......

Tell her she's never looked more beautiful than when she's holding a pistol in each hand.
