For those of you who haven't heard of painting the inlay on your glock slide (or any inlay for that matter), it is very easy to do and gives it a bit of personal touch. I painted mine white, but I have seen others do theirs all kinds of colours. Here is what I did:

  1. Soak a Q-tip in NON-ACETONE nail polish remover and dab the inlay. Let stand for 10 minutes. Non-acetone is important to protect the finish on the slide.
  2. Use nail polish (any colour you want) and dab it gently on the inlay, let stand for a few minutes
  3. Lightly apply the nail polish remover to some paper towel and wipe off bit-by-bit. Make sure you do this as flat as possible so you only wipe off whats above the inlay. I tore a bunch of pieces up and folded them into thick squares.
  4. Repeat 2-3x until you are satisfied.
    Let everything settle and lightly oil your slide an hour later so the finish does not appear flat.

As for the durability, well, many concealed carriers in the states have said theirs look new after a year of daily use. Here's my G17

crayons?

dont suppose there is a walk through for this?

i would feel silly hiding away in my den on the floor behind my desk with a box of my kids crayons rubbing the crayon back and forth over the slide, then poking my head up and looking around to make sure no one is coming to see what im doing and laughing at me for using a crayon on my gun!

meh, shoot the gun till the slide is warm, then rub the white on. wipe off.

ok.

so this totally had me wanting to try it.
i watched some videos online, went to the drug store, picked up some white nail polish and some remover and some ETOH and came home and sat down and gave it a go.
while im not real keen on doing it to my guns.... i like black on black, i was though really liking what it looks like on the magazines.
so i did it to a couple of mine and compared them to one that where not done..... SO much nicer!
i even made a little video doing it because the guys at work wanted to see it being done (i think they where thinking it was gunna be a gong show)

so i submit for your approval;

a Dlask 1911 45 mag (made by ACT in Italy) beside one that isnt done.
