I have an NR B&T SPC9 safe queen and it pisses me off. Got it direct from the store, splurged for its crazy price thinking I’d never buy another PCC again. Boy was I mistaken.

Why? I’m a lefty, but I don’t think it matters as I’ve tried to fire it right handed. Both ways leave me with face fulls of hot gas. Whenever I shoot I feel the heat and power debris run across my face. Anyone who’s experienced this knows how much it sucks. I’m fairness, my Gen 1 Sub2k does this as well. The only way to control it is by adjusting the stock to its full length and carefully adjusting myself in an uncomfortable position. What a waste of 5k.

Any better choices out there? Will I have a different experience with the FX9 or others?

Kriss vector 9mm. Absolutely love mine. Hurt my wallet a bit but you pay for quality

I got a fx-9 8” and love it. Isnt a gas system so wont be and issue. Im also right handed.. maybe find a range that has one to try?
Most 9mm PCCs are blowback, including OPs sub2000 that blasts him in the face...

OP i didn't find it to be an issue with my ruger pc carbine, but my trigger time on the gun has been limited thus far. I also shoot left.

Lefty here.

Freedom specifically states that the FX9 isn't recommended for leftys, I've heard they can be pretty gassy but I haven't tried it myself, I'd imagine they wouldn't persuade leftys against buying their product just because.

Haven't handled the Kriss, don't believe the controls are very ambi though when I've looked into it.

Had a couple different Rugers, had zero issues with them.

Sub2k's kind of suck for us, as you've learned.

Also had a GHM9 (NR), I loved it and had zero issues shooting it.

Have you tried different ammo brands/types? I've found a big difference in shooting blowbacks with different ammo. Some are great, others are sandblasting my face with powder kernels

X2 I'll be honest, the only thing I don't like is the oversized bolt catcher. Can't leave it bolt open on the table to see the open chamber cuz the gun's weight releases it. You can get different lenght barrels fot it too which is a big plus.

Thank you for starting this thread, and to everyone who contributed.
My experience:
FX9. Feeds great and is decently accurate with the right load, right load being 2.8gr 700X pushing a 147gr campro plated at 1.14" COL, which produces 1" 5shot groups at 25yrds.

The CON and great weakness with mine has been that the last round hold open pretty much does not work, have tried many brands of mags and put some time into lightning the spring and smoothing the bolt catch. Works best with factory Glock mags but still only about 80% at best.

I was sure I read that Renaud Kerbrat (inventor of Kriss Vector) is a lefty and the Vector manual of arms was designed with this in mind. BUT I cannot find any source to back up this claim today!

Regardless, the Vector's ejection port is far forward with an upwards trajectory, plus ambi controls - better suited for lefties than a conventional arrangement. Mag drop, bolt release, and underside charge are simple with right hand.

There is also patent US20120260791A1 for RHS charging handle (also by Renaud Kerbrat). Looks like dremel and door knob would do it!

FX9 is not good for lefty shooters I had one and got rid of it quick
Sub 2000 was a bit better but not by much
TNW asr seems to be ok as does the S&W
If remember right the JR carbine was ok too

Sorry that has been your experience experience. Have you considered changing charging handles? I know B&T has used different charging handles with different manufacturing runs.

Mine came with an older style BCM and has been flawless so far with PMC 124gr or Norma 124 gr.

It is probably my favourite rifle, so sorry yours isn’t performing well.

What province are you in? Maybe it’s something you compare with another owner and see if it’s just your model, as I’ve never read about issues with gas and the B&T models.

The JR carbine can be converted to left side ejection.
the Sub 2000 with the sudo-bullpup configuration is one of the worst for shooting left handed.

maybe try a 3 bucc brass catcher on your existing carbine?
