I driving down a grid road this weekend, I was looking for likely places to hunt game birds. I had heard of a bit of "Wild Life Lands" So I was trying to find it.

Well I found it, marked by the tell tale yellow sign that says this land is provided by sportsman for sportsman. The usual thing around here is you can only hunt these lands on foot. All around a very nice thing in my mind, it's why I pay for membership in the Wild Life Federation and a host of other "Conservation" groups and orgs.

So I pull onto the approch that leads into WWL and what do I see........

The pics say it much better than I can......... I'm still a little pissed!

So this is what my donations are for........ To rent/buy land so the landowner can post it No Hunting!!!

IMHO, that NO HUNTING sign is BS... Those lands comply with an agreement, & I would imagine it requires access to allow hunting!

Cheers
Jay

Call the wildlife federation in Boggy Creek... that's why that info is on the sign. If that doesn't work call the office in Moose Jaw and talk to Darrell Crabbe. He's the president and a great guy. Try and explain exactly where it is and all of the circumstances.

What happens is the land owner will donate these lands with certain restricions which could be never to be developed or to always alllow hunting or in some cases to never allow hunting. the wildlife Federation is not opposed to hunting nor are they pro hunting. They really are about habitat conservation in the end. We have done some work with them in the past and we always stipulated hunting must always continue to be a part of the habitat!!!

Ouch! Do you think sometimes that a pissed of local(s) put these signs up when there really in nothing against the law with hunting there, just that they don't agree with it/like it?

That sign just means that the owner has agreed not to destroy the wildlife habitat on his private land. That is not Wildlife Development Land that was purchased with a portion of your hunting and fishing licence revenue.
