I wanted something that could reach out there and get a 300 yarder but I could lower the grain to not have a mule but could up it to moose with more grains. With a rapid z 600 scope. Any comments?

Consensus seems to have it that the 7WSM will go away, unlike the .270 or the .300. Recently the BR guys have been messing with the 7mmWSM and it's making the 1000 yard 300 WM guys look over their shoulders. It can be uncanny accurate and I don't think it's going anywhere. If I didn't own my M658 Premier Tikka 7mm Rem Mag, I'd probably have pretty well exactly what you bought for my go-to rifle. Great choice - now stick some 160 Accubonds in her and get out there....

Excellent model if you can afford it cause that's the complain that you will receive... One thing for sure: you have to pay for an edge of quality.
For the caliber, really love it even if it's not one of the most common wsm( not a popular but an excellent one). I have one and it's accurate and got enough of power for everything you can hunt in Canada

the 7WSM is the best of the three and I'd pick it in a hearbeat over the 270 WSM...nothing wrong with the 270WSM but it's existence is confusing considering the existence of the 7WSM...like the old 270vs280 debate...
the 7mm version will shoot 130-150's a bit faster than the 270 version and you have the option of 160-175's with the 7mm version...sure you can get a 160 Partition in 270 but how many guys actually use them?

you made a good choice....

The difference between the 270 and 7 mm is 0.007. Of course I had a 270 and 30-06 so what did I get next . . . a 280 Rem. Then I got rid of the 270. My latest, although not here yet is a Rem 700 Sendero SFII in 300 Win Mag. Time to start loading and collecting accuracy loads from CGNer's

A lot of manufactures have dropped the 7mm WSM but kept the 270 wsm and 300wsm.... Winchester included...... so it is loosing manufacture support.

Kimber is still putting out 7mm WSM's if a Kimber interests you. They are also running around 1150 bucks....

I have a 300 win mag in a Tikka and it kicks like a mule. The 7mm rem mag is a tad lighter. I am concerned that 7mm wsm will no longer be made.

and they thought the 22 Hornet would "no longer be made" after the 222 hit the scene in 1950.....:)

a non-issue for a handloader....a couple hundred brass and you're ready for a lifetime of hunting....

Yeah . I have to quit being tied up on business deals and buying guns on short notice :runaway::runaway: I already have some 7mm rem mags so I should stay with that and buy in bulk or only reload a huge number of one calibre.

Great choice on rifle, and for caliber, I'm not a 7mm fan.

As mentioned by Rembo, go with the 300WSM. The Sako wont kick hard like your Tikka Lite does in the 7mm.

A buddy and I have had our Sako m75S 300WM for 10 years now-great rifles, no recoil noticable for us, but we are both big guys. We picked up a mint used identical rifle for a buddy in our moose camp this summer and a Sako m75 Greywolf 300WSM for another buddy.

As for the 270WSM caliber, I have a couple in the T3 LS models- great caliber with 140gr Accubonds. This caliber and bullet combo sure has impressed me with performance at the range and on big game at various distances. IMO, its a caliber not to shy away from.

If you reload, there is nothing to worry about the 7WSM disappearing. Just load up on brass and you're good to go.

For LR shooting/hunting, the 7WSM has the distinct advantage of having high BC-bullets available. IIRC the 180gr Berger's has a BC of .684! I run my 140gr Partitions at ~3150fps and that's plenty accurate/hard enough for anything up to moose.

I tend to agree. Ill be buying a heavier 300 win short mag. Any suggestions? I prfer the grips on the tikka sako but dont want the light weight. Does Weatherby make one? I need one with a narrower hand grip.

The 7mms will do anything the 300s will. Trust me.

However its all personal choice and you are the one spending the cash. So buy exactly what you want! and not what everyone else wants or suggests.

Game is shot and harvested with every cartridge you can think of and each different one in the eyes of the owner is better than the rest!!
