I shot a crow today and.....

You are what you eat.....

Used to hunt a ton of farm crows in an area that didn't have a municpal garbage dump. I figured the crows ate the same diet as the pheasants so I ate both! To be honest, its ok but not my favorite by any streach. I do hate shooting anything I don't eat so the little buggers got wrapped in bacon and smeared in peppercorn goat cheese under the broiler.....YUMMY!

(no comments about my placemat from the 'toes in the gun photo' crowd!)

Ha Ha.. you guys are out to lunch to eat crow?...
Kinda like eating humble pie without a reason.

Is coyote on the menu next?......

Just kidding and I still hope you guys are too....:D

I cooked it in butter and flour, just like a mackerel fillet.

I shot him on the beach in Mace's Bay....some of you New Brunswickers might know that area. There's tons of crows down there, and no dump - they live side by side with the black ducks down there on the shore. I figure they eat pretty much the same thing, either sea vegetation or shellfish. I figured it'd taste fishy, but it didn't.

I had a lot of chances for black ducks, but I had no licence. The post office was closed on Saturday. I even saw a big Canada, but.....all I was allowed to shoot was the crows.

I am glad Alberta and Saskatchewan gopher shooters do not have to be concerned with the ethics of eating all they shoot!

When I was out west this summer, I did question why you guys dont eat them things, after shooting a whole bunch.
I may be a bit hill billy cause those legs didnt look too bad mixed with the right seasoning.
My friends looked at me with a side glance and just said they were coyote food.....

Great green gobs of greasy, grimy gopher guts,
Mutilated monkey meat
Dirty little birdies' feet.
Great green gobs of greasy, grimy gopher guts,
And me without my spoon!

sounds real appetizing, maybe if i was stranded

We sang that same song on the bus to summer camp.

Are we graduates from the same gopher pile....;)

Four and Twenty Black Birds baked in a pie.

There was a time when I no doubt would have eaten crow given the opportunity. But even pigeon no longer appeals and I know they are delicious roasted in red wine.
