I just had to share this with you all out there. I just picked up my small game license on Friday and shot my very first partridge today. That's a H&R single shot 20 gauge in the back.

Nice to see a local guy on here. I was itching to go out this weekend but it didn't happen. Good looking ruffed grouse, definitely good eating. Nice shotgun too.

It was my first hunt as well and 22 years into hunting I still have a special spot for grouse hunting and do as much as I can... Congratulations... Enjoy the feast... It just doesn't get better... I like mine wrapped in bacon and served with a side of garlic butter...

Congrats on the grouse! If you don't want to roast it will the skin on the easiest way to clean it is to stand on the wings and pull the legs, then cut the wings and feet off. They are great table fare....enjoy!

Nice 1st bird, we have some fine hunting opportunities in NW Ontario. Just wait for the excitement when you find a group of them!

Looks just like the first game I ever took. I used a 16 ga single though! I recommend wrapping that guy in bacon, as someone else has already mentioned.
