Went down to gun store today just to pick up about 8 dollars worth of stuff, then i started talking with jean, about his sig p-226's that he had for sale. As we talked he asked me if i would like to see one ( i knew that could be trouble for my wallet) so i said sure and well i handled it for a minute or two and told him keep it for me, i would be back tomorrow morning. So now my collection of 9mm is about to grow again. Worst thing is i still really want a Walther P99 DAO, guess she'll have to wait t'ill next month when there back in stock. Oh the terrible joy of the 9mm:D. I guess this is what being a gunnut is all about.

Wonderful addiction to have

What a beautiful addiction you have.

No need to seek out therapy for this problem. The only help available is to buy more guns

Keep it up
Robert

I know what you're talking about. I've bought a couple of guns on a spur of the moment "snap 'em up before they are gone"-type thing. I find this to be especially the case with used guns at a shop. At the store I mainly deal with, I find that stuff in the used case generally either sits their for a long time (cuz it is something weird that no one wants) or it is there for a matter of days.

Same thing with the Exchange here on CGN. Some things you just know that you can either send an "I'll take it" PM right now... or you can spend the next two weeks regretting that you didn't, because three more guys sent "I'll take its" that day! :(

I just "snapped up" the Steyr GB 9mm that came up on the Exchange recently. I need more 9mm pistols like I need a hole in the head, but I just couldn't pass it up - as I love Steyr gear, and I've only ever seen pictures of the GB. The price was right too. Apparently there were only something like 20,000 made (or maybe that is 20,000 to the N. American market, not sure), and they haven't been made since 1988. The one I bought is apparently NIB unfired with the original box and paperwork. Two mags only, and I doubt I'll ever find more mags (or parts ) unless it is aftermarket. I [plan to shoot it. At the price it sold for, these guns are clearly not appreciating over time. I've heard that one of the reasons they were discontinued was the price. Some of them were like $800 US in the late 1980s. I paid less than that in Canadian money 20 years later! (but then there is the no mags, no parts, hardly anybody that knows much about them, etc,)

Steyr has only really made 5 different pistols in the modern era (as far as I can tell), and 4 of them are a "family" of pistols: M, S, M-A1, and S-A1. I now have one of each family: a GB and an M-A1.

I'm really looking forward to receiving this GB. I'll post pics, targets, video, reviews, etc. when it shows up. :D

The same applies to the range! I went out yesterday for a relaxing shoot for the afternoon, expected to cost me no more than 200 rounds of 7.62 Nato but instead it cost 200 rounds of 7.62 Nato and several hundred for a minty 1950 Longbranch #4... not sure how that happens but with nobody else there for support I had to give in.

Everytime I hesitated on a gun purchase I've regretted it because by the time I get back to the store or PM the person it's sold...I shouldn't go into gunstores to 'browse' or chat with the owner or employees because I usually wind up buying something that I shouldn't be but I haven't stop going. My weaknesses are anything .45 ACP and .357 Magnum revolvers and the store owners/employees know it all too well.

Hi!
Was at my gunshop last monday to get a shell holders for my .45 colt, ask the clerk if he get any .20 for the brush, you know, rabbit and partridge, he look trough is stock , can't seem to find one( my wallet was happy, thinking it can leave the place full) but has I was going, he withdrew a coachgun in .20, use to have one and lot of fun with it, so I spit $275 +tx for it, some cartridge etc...my wallet went to divorce now!!!

No gunshop addiction is like being in the AA, one glass is too many, and one thousand not enough...

Wouldn't the people there for support would actually encourage you to give in if they are true gunnutz?

I had a great experience due to missing out on the last two Kimber TCII's at a local gunshop within minutes of getting there with cash in hand. I was new to this and no other shop in the Lower Mainland had one and my heart was set on that model. I then had to take the plunge and do some research which led me to Canadian Gunnutz (which for advice and comeraderie is indispensible to any Canadian shooter as far as I'm concerned) and some of the contributing dealers. I have now built a relationship with a few of them and when I can't find something locally for a competitive price I am comfortable with having items shipped to me. Oh yes I got the TCII I wanted new from Alberta for $200.00 less than the price in "that" shop and it's the flagship of my very small but growing collection. I've just made my first buy through the EE here to add a nice older revolver to the Kimber 1911, S&W 686 and Sig 226, none of which I would likely have gotten if I hadn't missed out on the first purchase.

What is really scary is tomorrow when i go to pay the for the sig, i know jean has got a whole pile of garands that he will be to happy to show me. (i better not bring my bank card:eek:).

Boy, do I hear you guys...

Chris at P&D knows pretty much exactly what handgun I have come in to look at, after I have been viewing their website update on Tuesday afternoon - just because of my past purchase history with them. Like the old saying goes "They can see me coming..." :D

And yes, what a fun affliction!

Jeff/1911.

I recently sold off my nines then a few months later I felt 'incomplete' without a 9mm so I went out and bought a Glock 17 just have a 9mm in the stable......then today I go into a gunstore to have a 'peek' and wind up buying a 9mm S&W M&P. WTF? . I knew I shouldn't gone in......;)

The three step program to buying a new gun.
1. Go to the gun store to buy a $0.99 whistle or something like that.
2. Look around for a few minutes and then and say "AWE s**t" to yourself
3. Walk back out to the car a grand poorer, sit down and try to figure out what just hapened :)

Amen brother, Amen. ;)
