and now I am one of you! Got my first O/U. It may not the prettiest belle at the ball, but she sure makes this trap noob feel proud. Bought it off a fellow nutter and arrived this morning (under 2 days, good job Canada Post!). I present my Russian Remington Spartan 310!

I just want to get some extended chokes and I am away to the races!

Now can anyone tell me what the purpose of a mid bead is?:p New to the whole O/U world and I'm still absorbing info.

Let us know how it fits and shoots. All my doubles are SxS's -- although I did once try one of those new-fangled stacked pipe guns which belonged to a buddy. It broke clays nicely enough, but felt like a piece of 2x4 in my hands. It must have been a cheap one, it was made by Caesar somebody ;)

Congrats on the O/U purchase.:)
Some shooters use the second bead to split the rib up , so they get a consistent sight picture.
others use the second bead to make sure that the barrel is lined up properly with the eye.
Both should be totally disregarded as soon as the clay or bird is in the air , however!

HA HA! Good dig at "Ceasar Exploderinni!" Laugh2

I hope the Baikal Remmi works out for the OP. They're made of good steel
and are built like Russian tractor. Should last a long time as a trap gun.
Some gun snobs might poke fun at it, but hey, if you break lots of clays
with 'er and it fits ya proper, then enjoy.:)

Hope the O.P. won't mind me going off topic...

In fairness to CG, the last I heard was that CG had tried to get ahold of the gun that exploded in order to examine the steel, but the owner and the club in question were not cooperating. Whether it was a batch of brittle steel or a double powder charge in the shooter's reloaded shell, I have no doubt that after all the bad press that CG has made sure that their guns are solid.

I've always loved the lines of a nice OU 12 ga shotgun.

Too bad I've always been too much of a cheap ba$tard to buy one....

I hope you enjoy yours though.

NAA.

I love all my baikals. Don't have an o/u yet from them but I have a sxs with 20 000+ rounds thru it and it still dusting clays.
I got a 3.5" semi that cycles everything. Even 7/8oz loads. And I got a double rifle that groups 4 shots into 1.75" at 75 yards. Bang 4 buck I don't think it gets better then baikal

I wonder if the gun shoots flat. It doesn't look like it has a very high comb to give you that built in vertical lead. No big deal if you don't mind covering the bird. It would probably work well at skeet and sporting clays with more open choke tubes installed. Enjoy!
