I started out shooting .22's and from there started collecting them.
I am lucky enough to have a hubby who thought I might like to move up to a Carcano. We picked one up as a project for me.
Well as a X-mas surprise he totally restored it for me! It turned out amazing!
I finally got to take it out to shoot today! We had a spell of awesome weather so it was perfect.
I am in love! it was a great shooter and lots of fun! some of my .22's may be getting a break for a while!
I also got to shoot my Marlin I picked up in July and just got to shoot it today! It was way too much fun! shoots great! perfect gun!
Ok so maybe I have 2 favorites! ;)

It is great that you have discovered what a good Hobby shooting can be. Your Husband is a lucky man in that respect, but maybe a bit unlucky too. I have noticed that Women who have been introduced to the Recreational Firearms Community are not only good shots but also tend to want to learn and shoot more. So, he had better be prepared to buy you some more firearms!

Welcome.

So true, wife discovered shooting a couple of years ago and now enjoys the sport and joins us on just about every time out.. She shoots very well to boot.

It makes the hobby so much more enjoyable when your partner takes part.. :) Happy happy !!

Buffdog, problem is there's a double standard in our house now. Only Mamabear is allowed to own 22s but now she owns a centerfire, and I want a 22! Ha ha. So long as I have a shooting partner who's company I enjoy more than anything I don't mind buying her firearms. She usually returns the favour at least once a year.

Mine has taken over my cx4 storm...now she's as happy as I am when a case of 9mm's shows up at the door.

Hey I jus bought a Russian SKS would like to know where to get magazines for it and mag conversion if it needs one. Any ideas

The SKS has a fixed magazine, it's designed to load using clips (real clips) once you're practiced with them they're both lighter than magazines, and very close to as quick. A good hand with clips is actually faster than a newbie with magazines. Given the 5 round limit, there's no point in taking a perfectly reliable SKS and turning it into a poor handling tacticool nightmare that jams every third round. Even the SKS D (factory model that uses AK mags) is hit and miss for reliability

Welcome to the Milsurp Club, Mamabear!

If you guys ever get out this way, you will have to bring the Caracno. Janice might let you play with HER milsurps..... just as soon as we get this 1808/32 Prussian musket rebuilt!

Military rifles are the very best bang for the buck.... and they ALL have interesting histories.

Hi Mamabear, They are nice are they not, come out here during the meet and greet (or any time) and we can shoot off Smellies Schoenauer ammo. He has three Carcano's. I plan to get my own "modern" milsurp but when ever I save up the money another oldie jumps up and says "Pick Me!".
Being an old softy, I just cannot resist.

Oh, NO! Buying her an SKS will lead to a PTRS!

Lauren is shooting at a 12 inch steel "gong" that is 300 yards down range.

This is TINMAN204's other half. She is a fine Lady, with one vice. She gloms onto anything shootable in sight. Tinman204 has had several rifles like Carcanos, Swedish Mausers, SKS, and others "confiscated" by her for her personal use. Laugh2

And Twosteam (Janice) is just plain dog nuts about anything that goes "Bang," and more so if it emits a cloud of smoke upon doing so.

have one you?
how can you say that
yours may be not working properly
but mine has never failed me

it is very accurate
more than many Russian
and chargers are more for fun
but I agree with you for quick reloading with the clip
