I shot an SKS a while ago, AND I LOVED IT!!!!
They are cheap, bulk ammo is cheap, and they are bad ass.

Only issue is that other than on the EE board I'm not to sure where to by one.

I live in Hamilton, so any suggestions would be great.

Also, where can I get some manuals or diagrams? Even electronic version will do, they can always be printed.

Any other info that you would like to share will also be appreciated.

Thanks

I got mine from Frontier Firearms (Link Above). Great people, and free shipping of firearms.

Check the Red Rifles forum, there are some stickies on maintenance and disassembley, ect.

Is it Lever Arms who sell one SKS and one crate of ammo for a ridiculously low price these days?

By the way I agree with the "keep it original" idea, the original flavor can't be topped. Like coffee. I like my coffee just the way it is. I don't need do vanilla or cocoa or salmon extract or sawdust or whatever in it.

Agree with all the above.

I've seen some pretty good prices on the EE forum here too!

And Lou,

I 100% agree with you on this, for the SKS and coffee! My started putting cinnamon in our coffee in the morning. I think I'll trade her for an original SKS!

I bought an M48 from frontier...they were great, but I paid shipping.

I bought an SKS from a dealer off the EE...not sure if I can mention names or not ? Had the benefit of being cleaned of cosmoline when I got it.

Yeah I think everyone needs an SKS. I picked a Russian up at Gobles in London the other day ( a SKS that is). I like the look of the ones that Trade Ex has as mine didn't come with the cleaning kit and extras.

Don't waste your money on aftermarket assessories with the SKS, no matter what you do, you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Enjoy the firearm for what it is, short range, cheap shooting.

pointless to some if your desired length of pull is 10.5 inches.

I cant even shoulder the damn thing properly without an aftermarket stock or buttpad

I don't "tacticool" my shot gun I won't try and make a .22 camo, or make it into a "high-powered" sniper riffle, and i won't ruin the historic value of a nice sks.

The only reason i kind of want to get one from somewhere that is in driving distance is because i like to physically see stuff before i buy.
you know, meet the sale person and try to scam some freebies.

While I love all firearms... I really fail to see what's so 'cool' about the SKS, other than cheap plinking. They really don't look THAT badass.

+1 for tradex... i ordered one about 1 month ago. Great condition, matching parts. to my door for $266 and change.

Great service.
