Save your money and buy a Beretta or a Benelli or Winchester.

Why all the hate? I too have read many posters flame the Stoeger 2000 semis as unreliable junk, but my experiece has been the exact opposite. I bought mine used with an unknown round count and I have put several thousand rounds through it in the last year. I've used it alot shooting clays, Duck and took it deer hunting a few times.

I think they are EXCELLENT guns for what you pay. I honestly cant imagine spending another grand for the "real" thing would make it go bang any better.
I say go for it if that's what's in your budget.
Honestly if it is a hunting gun are you really going to put 5000 rounds through it? Probably not.

That's funny, I had a M2000 a few years ago that gave me perfect performance with zero hicups. Others I know have had the same results. And the mailman just brought me another M2000 yesterday that I'm sure will give me the same level of satisfaction. The same cannot be said about the Winchester 1300.....
Why did you get rid of your old one?
Because I am a dumbass.
I have a buddy with one that has had numerous problems with his, from jamming to not cycling - it must be a lemon!Honestly if it is a hunting gun are you really going to put 5000 rounds through it? Probably not.
