I think I'm going to be in trouble

Already got one on order from Westrifle.com (site sponsor). Looking forward to receiving it!

Thanks for the heads-up on Valley Guns. I make the odd trip up to Cobalt, so next time I do I'll stop in there on my way home. I've stopped in to Deep River Outfitters a couple times and they seem like a nice bunch of guys as well.

Thanks again, everyone!

Thanx

Haha I was in the exact same boat, looking at getting an SU-16, pistol grip/fore-end kit, and 1000 rounds of .223 when I got my vacation pay. Then I saw an 858 on the EE, almost exactly the way I wanted it, with 3000 rounds of ammo. Pretty much half what I would've paid for that SU-16 et al, and I couldn't be happier. Granted, it's sitting on my kitchen table right now apart whilst I try and figure out which variation of the gremlin I have, but that's a problem I should only have to fix once and then I'll be back at the range with it. If you ever see one for sale with a double digit round count, don't believe it, I have trouble leaving without putting at least 200 rounds down range haha. Still getting an SU-16 though, just waiting for the right package to come up on the EE at the right time and the right price.

I was lucky enough to get a killer deal that already had new furniture so I could put a bunch of crap on it AND it came with a crapload of ammo! win win right?

The VZ-58 pattern rifles are a better rifle IMO, for a whole host of reasons. Plus they have been proven in harsh places many times. Actually, some of the security contractors who were working in Afghanistan have been using VZ-58's successfully. The 858 is just the civil version made by the same company that made the originals. I was impressed with it every time someone let me shoot theirs, that finally I gave in and bought one...absolutely no regrets!

im assuming you already ordered one? i bought mine off a guy on gunaddicts, for 650 shipped brand new with all the factory stuff, i think he still has a few for sale. i went with a solid stock after shooting a friends, i dont really like the look of the folder and i doubt it would feel as good either. just about anything that eats surp ammo is a win in my books lol.

You can't go wrong with a 858 IMHO. Ive got one with a folding stock, its starting to be my favorite to shoot lol, cheap ammo, nice and light and easy to maintain. Its replaced my swiss arms black special as my truck gun lol

Thanks. I'll keep my eyes open for one. It's a great looking stock. I'd have a have a hard time going away from a folder, though. I like how compact this rifle is when folded up.
