God help me i think Im gonna buy a Glock. I swore i wouldn't. I hate the way it looks, but now that I sold my Beretta, and I have 1911's and Sigs and CZ I can't seem to find anything better to spend $700 on. Just for pure curiosity. Somebody talk me out of it!!!!!!!!!!:slap:
 
Don't do it...come back to the Beretta fold...say to yourself "M9A1" (repeat if necessary) :D...yes I know it's more than $700...

really dude? i havent bought one yet either..and the only reason i will buy one some day is to go with the 9mm lone wolf AR that takes glock mags. But until then ill shoot my beretta M9, 1911's and XDm!!
 
Its hard not to be curious they have so much hype around them i always had a dislike for polymer guns and had a romance for metal.
 
Glocks are great polymer pistols. They are simple and reliable, and easy to operate, clean and maintain. And at $700 bucks, you'll have a pistol that will last you a lifetime.

That being said, they haven't been improved on since thier introduction in the '80's.

Easiest way to talk you out of a Glock...S&W M&P. They are the same price, and have much better ergonomics. Most of my pistol shooting has been done with a Glock, but firing off one 10 round mag at the range, and I was an M&P convert. It felt better in the hand, and felt better when firing.

Another polymer gun to look at is the Steyr M9. Not much to look at, but its cheap, fits the hand well, and is well-made.

And then if you feel like blowing that $700 budget, and want polymer. You can never go wrong with the H&K USP. Plastic Fantastic! That is one gun I'll never part with!

...or you can go back to the heavy metal crowd and buy Beretta. You can never go wrong with an M9!!
 
Ask yourself why most of the police departments in the country and US carry Glocks? Because they work and are dead reliable. I love my Glocks. I have 3 right now and will probably get more.
 
I thought it was so they can't screw up using it. Simpler than a double action revolver lol.

I can't afford to run factory ammo all the time so I like regular rifling.

you can shoot reloads in a Glock. and you can shoot plain lead in a Glock too. just clean the damned thing more often and don't do +P+ Turbo NOS Ultra Elite Magnum Talon Deathray Viper loads in it. and it's way easier to get parts for it. and i can clean the Glock in less time than it takes to remove the slide from a 1911 Night Elf Mohawk Rambo Stealth Tactical

Then I would suggest you need more practice (and perhaps some instruction) on how to remove the slide form your 1911. ;) :D It really should only take a second or two longer than removing the slide of your Glock, if you are doing it right. Full field stripping and reassembly is a different matter though... ;)

Check out STI's YouTube videos for instruction on how to properly remove your 1911's slide. (hint: you don't need to remove the barrel bushing first). :)
