I want a Ruger American in .450 Bushmaster. WHERE???

I am so tired of gun snobs constantly disrespecting entry level guns, mostly for no reason other than they are entry level. I don't comprehend why someone would pay 2, 3 or 4 times as much money when the accuracy is essentially the same. Same thing with cars... I've been in $80K+ cars and sure they are nice - but why pay a 200, 300 or 400% (or more) premium for essentially cosmetic differences?

I'm not a gun snob....but I do think the American feels awful cheap.

It might but that is the beauty of this combo it is a working gun something designed to throw in behind/under the seat and not care if it gets rub/scratch marks all over it also these are with that 16" barrel fast handling and once that ugly muzzle brake is off it would be perfect as a camp defence combo and it would be excellent for still hunting in heavy bush.

Aaaahhh something always comes up... I now have to hold off for a couple more months I'm right now racing one of my dogs into the vet this morning going to cost me what this rifle, brass and dies are worth. Family comes first...

^hornady makes magnum 300 and 240 grain xtp bullets for the 460 S&W and 454 Casull, I'm sure they could "handle the heat"
I would be concerned with the expansion characteristics when driven at higher velocity. For paper it is a non issue, but this is a hunting rifle.

Cabela's Abbotsford, BC has 3 boxes of 20 rounds each of the 250gr FTX on their shelf for $45.00/each.

I'm so glad I reload...

Good thing 454 and 460 are designed for game not paper, the 460 is hoooooot and 454 rifles have taken game at high velocity

I have a 20" barreled 454 Casull LSI Puma M92 rifle it puts out 240gr XTP-Mags at 2350fps average velocity on paper and it worked fine on deer and black bears too.

Not seen any rifles in those calibers being used, thought you were talking handguns which we can't use here in canada for hunting, my bad

I carried a 4.25" and 7.5" Ruger Super Redhawk's in 454 Casull for several years with my remote area ATC they work fine = I'll say no more...

My black bear load because I wanted expansion were the 240gr and 300gr XTP-Mags when I was working in grizzly country I was loaded with 360gr-390gr-405gr WLNGC's the 405gr loads did 1330fps out of the 4.25" barreled SRH.

So how many animals were you forced to take with your ATC? How long was the investigation after said incident.

I know from having a prospectors ATC and friends who have the same it can be quite the legality mess afterwards

Oh man that post was super good humour.

How do I respond to that set of questions/comments?

I have to ask you Brian if a tree falls in the forest and there is no one there to hear it did it make a noise?

:slap:

:)

I have a 454 rossi too never shot anything with it, carried it some days hunting this year. Even if we can't hunt with handguns in Canada what bearing does that have on the nature of bullets designed for handgun hunting cartridges and their use in 450 bushmaster? My point was the 460 shoots these bullets at similar or higher velocities to the 450 bm so they should work just fine, hopefully I can confirm that in the real world next season.

So you are saying you dont self report an incident like you are supposed to?

Heck, my Scout has the same lines on the outside of the barrel...... when ya get bored you can play a nice little DJ sounding tune with your fingernail..... ;)

My Ruger 10/22 Sport Deluxe is like that too. I have seen several Sport Deluxe that are not like that. I understand that Ruger has that, built on Monday or built on Friday kind of QC across all their guns. I've had mine for 8 years and hasn't bothered me to sell it.

You accused me of breaking the law no one ever has done that to me anywhere before now you want to talk nice you really are a special kind of stup*d...

Posturing aside the data is on the web, 10 inch 460 loads are within 100 fps of 450 bm loads. Same bullets same powder. If you want a comparison on rifles a trip to " real guns" will show you the 454 casull rossi and 450 bm American are practically twins. Same bullets same powders, I'm confident my handloads will hold up.

Now the only thing that is not up for debate is who is a better hunter, I will be enjoying tag soup this year. Cheers and good job on your deer
