I want an XCR.

I like mine, in 5.56/.223. I've put a little over a thousand rounds through it, in temperatures from 30c to -25c. I've never taken the barrel off, or taken it farther apart than one needs to clean it, had zero issues with screws backing out.

The only minor complaint I have, is that the shell deflector should not be palstic. The nub that keeps mine from twisting broke, and now the deflector gets knocked out of position. Doesn't cause any issues, so I'm not bothering to replace it.

Plenty of them show up in the EE, low round count. Save a few hundred bucks and get a used one. Go ahead and torque/loctite every screw in sight, because you never know what the previous owner might have done to it.

The only real pain in the neck wth the XCR is the amount of time you have to spend explaining to idiots, civvy and LEO alike, that it's NON restricted and NOT prohibited.

I have to say before Gary from Wanstalls told me that the 308 would be available, i did not care much about them, not bashing then but now knowing that a 308 XCR-M have my name on it, i am looking forward to range time with it... Cheers JP.

the XCR-M is definitely a more interesting creature, as it fires a round that is capable of dropping anything in North America (well, mebe pushing it on a Grizz or Polar). even more so if they release conversion kits for it beyond the .260 Rem they already have for it.

that said, the XCR-L with it's 6.8 SPC and 7.62x39 is also more than capable. I would take a moose comfortably with either if the range was right.

I would stick with the .308 if Moose is on the menu....

I am loving mine 2000 rounds in. Whatever you do don't use red loctite as was suggested on the first page. I haven't found I've needed to loctite anything on mine, but if you do make sure to use blue (medium strength).

so what should I know? :yingyang:

I've already asked Greenman if he would send me a copy of the manual in PDF that he has, but I'm wondering if there's anything else I should read up on, etc.

already been through the 20 page FAQ, Z had some very helpful info posted.

anything else?

The truth is you need a big dong to shoot the thing or you will have all sorts of problems.

a shipment is expected end of November, but my understanding is most dealers are already sold out. next shipment is expected in the Spring. but yes, they are coming!

The latest word is first shipment (XCR-M .308) before Christmas and second shipment "should" follow in 4-6 weeks and so on. Right now the first two shipments are spoken for. We always try and split our shipments 50/50 between our retail customers and supporting dealers.

Loctite

I agree, blue is the most you need, and remember in the "loctite brand" blue comes in a red tube and red comes in a blue tube. Wonder how many people went out and bought the blue tube then put red locktite on there screws. Why they didn't put the red in the red and the blue in the blue??? beats me!
Permatex brand the blue is in the blue tube.
