So I am pretty new to handguns. I have a fns9l and really enjoy it. I am loving it more than I thought I would as most of my shooting is bolt gun.

I am looking for another new toy to enjoy over Christmas break. What should I consider? I am going to get a 22 of some kind as I have a tonne of 22 to burn up and the wife would probably enjoy it.

I am looking at the canam deal on the np27 and ammo combo. Also like the feel of the ruger sr45. Also considering an m&p 40 or just get the fns40. I will be reloading whatever I choose. Help me out. What do I want? Thanks

Cheaper to get a 9mm/357/38 if you'll be reloading. .22 fun and very inexpensive. No need to pickup brass. .45/1911 is awesome but gotten expensive to reload. Personally I don't like .40 cal. Very snappy and not as much fun to shoot. I'll take .45 auto over .40 any day.

Get a nice .22 Ruger Mark III bull barrel, all black with wooden grips, you won't (and your wife..) be disapointed.

A Ruger SR45 is also a very nice to have.

I like the m&p 22 and the rugers are growing on me.

Part of me wants to just grab that norinco combo but another part just wants to get the sr45 and skip the super cheap guns. I have only handled one norinco 1911 and it felt like ####. I then held a Kimber and it was no comparison. Maybe I answered my own question

I've had the SR45 and currently own a Norinco 1911 (one of the ones with no Norinco markings). I prefer the Norc to the SR45. I now have an SR9 instead of the SR45, and the Norc for 45.

a bit more money and more hype than most .22 pistols but the Browning 1911-22 seems interesting. If your wife is a smaller person, the 3/4 size might be appealing to her!?! I was trying to talk my wife into one from a 22/45 but she moved into revolvers instead!
