The movie was Shoot To Kill with Sidney Poitier and Tom Berrenger.
1988. The thing I remember about that bear was the size of it's head!

Oh yeah..

They are trekking through the bush, and run into the grizz...

Sidney Poitier says "Why don't you shoot it with your rifle?"

TOm Berenger replies "I dont' want to piss it off!"

I think it was the same grizz they used in that Alaskan movie, when the bear stalks Anthony Hopkins and one of the Baldwins...

The movie was "The Edge". The bear's name was Bart. The was also in "Legends of the Fall" if I remember correctly. He died a few years back of old age. Here's a link I found on google. http://members.tripod.com/bartbear/

But at 1480 pounds, he was almost exactly the same size as the bear I saw. (that bear was a little bigger than my bear) Still...What a monster! I'm still in shock at the sheer size of the beast.

I hike alot around the Tumbler / Dawson Creek area and choose to carry either my Guide Gun or my Fabarm Martial 12g. Either or makes enough noise to scare, and hopefully I'm never presented with an opportunity to test knock down power! lol
