I Want to Bubba this Rifle so Bad.

I'd say sell it and buy something a little less rare and valuable (to a collector). You can pick up a very nice 91/30 for $200 or less, but that rifle is special and even mentioning "sporterizing" in it's presence is blasphemy!! LOL
Yes I do need help, thank you.

There is a reason they took the extra time to carve out wood, and built these rifles like this, and not as "Sportsters". All that wood protects the rifle, and protects you from the rifle, also the lighter it is the more pain you will feel in the shoulder.

Besides Sportsterizing Milsurps causes EYE HERPIES! :D

I say keep it intact or sell it to me...or I'll happily send you a rare "sniper" .303 Bubbavaria Enfield if you just want a truck gun. :D

I say do what you want with your rifle and don't let others influence your decisions (either through insults or other) - it's yours afterall and you're the one who has to enjoy it.

I agree with this comment. Of course, it's moot point since schick has already stated he/she will not bubba this rare bird.
I'm also impressed that schick asked our opinion. Think about that! Anybody that called schick names is an (edited by mods)...
:D
j/k...

Thanks for the kind responses.

Claven2, thanks for the valuable information. It sounds like this is actually a rare find.

I will DEFINITELY NOT bubba this item.

I will shoot it though.

Can I take it hunting? :)

Indeed, enjoy the rifle! There are others you can get that are already bubba'd so you can still enjoy a shooter!

So that one is rare as hell! I offered it and a Westinghouse and a carbine for $50 apiece or $120 for the 3 and none of you wanted them.It seems they are only rare and valuable when somebody wants to sporterize them.

I got to ask, when was that offer open? I have been eyeballing mosins here for 6 months & the cheapest mosin I have seen for sale was $75(bought a mauser that month, no extra cash or I would have bought it), next cheapest 125(traded for it), next cheapest$150(bought it for 130 because the bore was rough) & thats where they stay for your average m44 or 91/30 or finn 91. Next up the rarer ones in order of price m-28 $200(bought it rough bore but still cool), m28-30 $450(it sold) m-39's 350-450(all sold & owners seem happy). Just for the record if anyone wants to dump mosins, carcanos, steyrs & every other gun people generaly consider to have no collector value or parts in any condition pm me.

And all those pesky annoying 6.5 x55 Swedish Mauser stripper clips that seem to clutter the workbench can be sent my way also. :D

Nice to see that these sorts of rifles are still around. :)

Too bad I am south of the border. Otherwise I would have reached for that Westinghouse with one hand and reached for my wallet with the other. Come to think of it, for $120 beaver bucks I wouldn't have hesitated to get all three. :D

Yeah...you really have it rough. You can shoot an AR, AK, or damn near anything else almost wherever it suits you...carry around a 1911 (or two if you're so inclined). And buy almost every new and used firearm around at 1/2 to 2/3 of the price we can buy it for here...let's not forget those 100 round centerfire drum mags you have access to. My heart really goes out to you:p

I think we all need to give a hearty Three Cheers and He's a Jolly Good Fellow to schick for

a). being smart enough to ask for advice BEFORE doing anything to it,

b). sharing it with us, and

c). doing the right thing for collectors, with HIS rifle!

Stop over at gunboards.com as there are lots of hardcore milsurp collectors there. They can also give you lots of info on this rifle. No doubt they will also give you advice on how to PRESERVE this rare piece of history. Like others have said, a good-shooting Finnish MN can be found for cheap, so for beer money you could find another good shooter and haul out the 'special' only for rare events.

You

lucky

bast@rd! :D

after teh first post I saw frothing at the mouth slopering and sputtering... but I got better as I made it thur all the post. whew DONY bubba that.

Hey Klunk nice nagant, its been passed around like a cheap whore, and everyone has left their marks. Worthless utterly worthless, when should I come by to pick it up :)

Thanks again guys for the responses.

Now after looking even moer at this rifle and going to some of the websites mentined, I find one thing a littel confusing. It's about stamps. It seems mine has that rare stamp that was only around for a few months, and then rifles were stamped otherwise. I assume the got "SA" stamps. ??

Mine has "SA" stamps too. WTF? Normal for a Finn?
