I want to crank out the .223 ammo, which progressive?

Dillon Super 1050 + Mr Bulletfeeder + Poness Warren Autodrive.
Dillon Auto primer tube feeder and as mentioned above Dillon 1200 trimmer.

Yes, it's the most expensive, but it will also output the highest quantity of ammo at the least effort.

Nobody ever regrets getting the best.

Agreed, but feel like a broken record at times.
 
1050 may be more than I need. I like to make s couple thousand rounds at once, but they will last me a long time. Then again, I like good stuff and I could probably crank out 9mm, 45 Acp for my buddys too. :)

Question, Are you running this right now?

Reason, when I talked to Dillon about this setup (I want too), they basically did not approve at all.

The vids I see sure look good.

So? All good apparently?

i would let them make the ammo as opposed to you doing it for them. If you make them the ammo then make them sign a waiver stating that they use your ammunition at 100% their own risk. Even at that, if something goes wrong and they have a bricked gun because of a bad reload then i'm sure they wont be your friend much longer.

Dillon don't like the PW autodrive. Set up wrong it will bend parts. Used wrong it will bend people. Done right it works perfectly.

I did a full bearings out teardown on my super1050 after (best guess) 50-75K cycles on the autodrive. I couldn't find any sign of wear or tear. If I'd placed the cleaned parts on the bench and had you guess, you'd probably believe the linkage was brand new.

I'm told that the PW drive arm will likely have a failure. So what. it's easy to replace.

The 1050 is a lot of machine, but the answer is usually just buy more brass. I may load 4-5K at a time, but might only load a caliber twice a year.

and yet i did/do the same thing with my pro1000, though only 3500x 9mm.

with 2 primer trays prefilled i can do about 500 or so per hour assuming i don't get a primmer jam up, which doesn't happen a whole lot with a clean press and small pistol primers. large primers have more issues, but again as long as the press is clean it's usually fine.


that being said, of that 3500 rounds, 50-75 were crushed primers, flipped primers, etc.

The only thing I am missing is the Auto Drive. Not too sure about it... I prefer some hands on:)

And if you intend to do any action shooting, IPSC etc, 1000 rounds is nothing to burn through in a week.

330 round match ammo is loaded and chamber checked in less than an hour.

I usually load 2000, then tumble and reload it all again.

With my recent brass acquisition, My cement mixer is going to be busy... 14K is a lot to tumble. So, the plan so far is load and shoot it all, then when I am all used up, tumble all 14K and start the cycle all over again.

Yessir, but not for 223 right now. It works Awesome. The only thing I can say is GIGO... Garbage In, Garbage Out - gotta make sure that that you feed it decent brass - no rocks, no mis-shappen, etc.

Dillon not approving of the PW Drive makse sense. Ford doesn't warranty the driveline after you install a Rousch Supercharger either. ;)
 
Dillon 550. I load lots of 223 on it! I would also suggest a Giraud trimmer and the primer pocket press if you are using crimped brass.
