I want to shoot my next deer with a Milsurp??

Yup!

But you can always learn about interesting things lke gravity, bullet drop and range estimation..... Louis Riel fed himself with a Snider Carbine, and so did a lot of other guys. It CAN be done.

And it's a lot more authentic "black-powder" shooting than using an inline rifle with a scope, saboted bullets and substitute powder.

I have a remington rolling block in 45/70 that I have put over 1500 rnds through, it likes 500 grn bullets at 1250 fps best. It's very accurate, but if I am out a little with the range estimation it's bloody useless. It's good fun but not really practical exept at ranges up to 150 yds.

I think a Parker Hale is a great choice as it has the enfield reciever but a nice heavey barrel. It has a decent comb for a proper cheek weld and handles like a
no 5 but with a recoil pad and is a heck of a bargain considering the skill that went into them. It is basicaly an enfield that has been turned into a fine deer gun by a company that knew what they were doing rather than a bubba with a saw.
