I Wanted a Tanker

Been wanting to build a "tanker", finally found a No4 with the barrel already cut. Joining the stock was tedious but here it is. The front section of the forestock is a piece cut from an old buttstock, scope base is a piece of angle drilled for Tasco stud mounts.

I really like the finger joints on the fore end.

Good on you for making up the scope mount base out of a piece of angle iron. That's the way we did it back in the day. Actually a very stable and attractive mount.

Nice job overall.

npbra, is that the same rifle that is/was for sale on the EE?? Nice looking rifle.
 
Will be taking it to the range in a week or so. Was at the range last week but it was really windy, less than 3 inches at 100,
 
I used to drool over tanker type rigs. And then luckily a No 5 JC turned up for sale. Short carry rig works really well!
