I was a M305 doubter, forgive me....

I had the same impression before as I was an AR fanboy. Always through M14 platform was an old design and no where near as good as AR. Now, I have to admit that I am stupid and wrong.
Brought my first DA socom last year but mine was a lemon. Brought another m305 shorty and it shoots like a laser. I have fall in love in the M14 platform and my AR is in cold safe now.
I think I am addicted.

:p

Imagine how happy you will be when you get those rifles all tuned up ! A well-tuned M14-type rifle (whether Norc SAI or better ) really is a great piece of kit.

Truly a thing of beauty. But mine is damn heavy! With loaded mag, scope and mount, bipod, and spare mag in the stock pack, mine is just shy of 14 pounds! But it is a ###y beast. I never thought I'd be the type to fall for the big girls...

i've alway been a garand fan ..... so to me, the m1a is a carbine garand with a high cap mag hahaha ...win win win

well made rifle with a decent cartridge ! only thing i don't like is the plastic stock on my norc, gotta get some wood on there, soon !

I love my m14 too but damn is it ever heavy and the stock is slippery as a seal. Reliability wise in mud its terrible tho, havent tried it personally but from what ive seen in torure tests the m14 is just far too open ithe action. My type 97 would school it in that department but then again its far newer

Except for accuracy, the FAL beat the M-14 in every test done in the 50's. Mind you, an M305 isn't an M-14 and neither is an M1A.
A slippery stock can be fixed by either changing it or roughing up the finish. Putting on a fibreglass stock brings the weight way down. Isn't exactly heavy to start with though.

Yeah, totally. What with the 2 mags that came with, plus a factory 5 rounder, and the stock pack/cheek riser needed for the scope height on these rifles... TOTAL mall ninja. Says the guy with a VZ58 with an AR stock adapter carrying a chest rig...

OO See u did your research on my yes I do have a vz with a mag adaptor ill give you that and I only bought a chest rig for a m14clinic. Kinda creepy that you are keeping tabs on me so how long did it take you look up my post history? Wish I had your kinda time I proble use it for something more useful then finding dirt on fellow nutters.

PS Learn how to take a joke

5-10 minutes TOPS... ;) But in all seriousness, we're all on the same team here. If someone wants to put on a MOLLE chest rig and roll around on the ground, then power to them. Tight groups, friend.

Can dish it out but can't get it back, eh?

Just tried out my socom 18 for the 1st time today. Seems pretty good, just needs a little breaking in. And the front sight post was way off center thanks to some 10 year old chinese kid....

What kind of upgrades do you suggest for the Norinco m14 to make it more reliable & accurate?

The oprod spring guide. For one. Oprod guide should be tight and centered. Make sure your gas system is tight, and gas plug is tight. With the stock flash hider, it should "ring" if you pull the charging handle back and let 'er go, let's you know everything is tight. But read the stickies, there's a wealth of information on there, and if you get stuck there are some pretty awesome M14 nerds on here to help you out, lol.
