My opinion on a tool used within the sport is just that. Same as bullet selection,boots,knife,trailcam,...
That thread got a little outta hand. Had someone came out in the thread and said "hey, I'm new to hunting and just spent 400$ on a Rem 710 in 7mm mag, did I make a mistake?"The thread would have ended a lot sooner as I would have said " no, practice practice and you're laughin", and then everyone would eat me up for backpeddling, the thread would have been done.
I'd suspect from my thread that someone new would would either end up choosing a magnum or a non magnum, not hunting or non hunting.
PS: I have some gear to keep you clean and and protected while you clean your animals so you can PM me with your address and I'll put the stuff in the mail. Should be enough for 4 or 5 animals. Also have some really good heavy duty bags for you.
