I would like advice on Hunting Fish, What Rod to get for traveling?

Thanks for the great advice and starting point as I had no idea. Like all things it often comes down to what stores have in stock.
I ended up with a Shakespeare wild Series spinner combo.
Came with a bag and it breaks down into 3 pieces. Will fit great in my back pack.
Fishing hooks I'm assuming need to be in checked baggage? Wouldn't want anyone feeling threatened like it take over the plane or anything with all those sharps. Lol.

Stay away from the telescoping ones. I quickly broke two shimano exage's before I learned my lesson. My first choice would be st. croix. Look at the sal####er ones too, they're really tough. I had a 3-piece tidemaster for years when I was a bush pilot.
My trout rod is a Berkley amp 5'6" light spinning rod (2pc, cost $30 or so at army and navy) and a okuma avenger reel that was on clearance at CT running 6lb mono. Perfect little combo for fishing from the kayak
OP if you've got an army and navy around they're great for fishing gear. Good regular prices and always something on sale.

One of the guys I used to work with figured it wasn't fun unless you had a couple grand tied up in fishing rods and reels. He used to hate fishing with me because I caught more fish than he did, with my Crappy Tire and WalMart sale rods.
Used to tell him that the real difference between him and I was that he'd cry when a door got slammed on his rod, and I wouldn't care so much....
I like my cheap junk fishing rods. My fave is still the collapsible telescopic rod (~$10) from Wally World. Sensitive enough, not gonna cry if I lose it, and easy to go through the dense creekside bush with.
Hit the sales at WalMart and don't look back unless you hear a noise behind you on the trail in from the road!

Finally got a free day yesterday to go out fishing and wouldn't ya know it I couldn't get my reel to feed line out when i went to toss it.
problems I'm thinking.... maybe i spun the line on backwards? otherwise i'm not sure what the problem was....

There is actually a Fishing & Boating Topic if you scroll down the main page, close to the bottom. But I would go with the pack rod and a shimano spinning reel loaded with 10 lb mono line. Also buy a couple spools of heavier line to take with you such as a 15 & 20lb. I'm still useing my $50 reel after 8 yrs of catching a ton of fish. Shakespere is also a great spinning reel.
