I would like to see an honest comparison between the FNP-45, DA/SA, Glock 21, Para-Ordnance PXT LDA Light Rail, Springfield Armory XD 45acp, and Smith & Wesson M&P45. What do you think, who would be the winner in a defense contract? Regards, Richard

I'd say the XD or FN due to the associated military heritage of each company.

I'm not sure if the military would be comfortable with the stricker-fire design of the XD though. They've been fond of external hammers...

I'm also not sure if the military would like the removable back-strap on the FN. It's to configurable...If a component can be removed in the field...it can be lost!

Springfield has never sold a single firearms to the U.S. military. The present-day Springfield has nothing to do with the original Springfield Armory, which closed in 1968.

The glock and the new S&W have already proven very popular with police agencies across north america. Does this makes them the best? I say no, but really any of those 5 would prove reliable.

Currently both Canada and the US are using 9mm, hammer fired pistols with external safeties. Except for the new Sigs which dont have the external safety.

I think it would be which ever country let the country requesting bids build, maintain and allow their military jets to fly from certain airfields on that country's soil.... Isn't that how it really works?
