IAB sharps info

You're way better off with a Pedersoli.

The only stuff I've read about the lower quality Sharps copies, like the IAB, hasn't been very good - pretty well "stay away from them" (parts breaking, actions setting back).

If you're on a limited budget, get a Pedersoli. You'll be happier with it.

If you have any doubts, do a Google search. Here's a couple of comments I came across:

IAB/Pedretti are cheap in both senses of the word. They had a bad reputation but are said to be cleaning up their act. Pedretti is the main source of the "soft parts in Italian rifles" rumors. These are the least authentic, with major modifications made to the original Sharps design. If you are on a tight budget or just want a look-alike (and don't mind gambling) you might consider an IAB/Pedretti. See: www.iabarms.com

I believe that IAR is an importer of the IAB model Sharps. http://www.iabarms.com

I have one and shoot it a lot. It is more on the "bottom end" of sharps reproductions and there are quite a few design flaws with it, but for reenacting or occasional live fire shooting it should do what you want to do with it.

This model sharps, more than any other reproduction, needs to be maticiliously cleaned after each use. You will probably need to modify the breech plate as well to ease cleaning. Without that breach plate being able to freely move inside its socket, you will get a lot of gasses out of the breach and unnecessary wear to the breach block, plate, and barrel.

What A-Zone said is true. I bought one through the mail and after unwrapping it i sent it back the same day and purchased a Pedersoli. The IAB was very poor quality.

Do not spend hard earned money on a IAB for a little bit more you can buy a brandnew Pedersoli and then be able to play with the big dogs. Wait until the Dugald show in the spring save your cash and tax return money and you might be able to also get a set of real sights to boot, work up a load and we will see ya at the Selkirk BPCR shoot on fathers day

There's a brand new 45-70 Shiloh for sale at this site.
I was going to buy it, but my 40-90 has been released from US Customs, and I already have a 45-90.
