Hi guys,

Here are some pics of a Krag-Jorgensen 6.5 carbine. It has 1907 stamped on the rec'r. Been researching the Krags online some and I found one called the Model 1907 Field Artillary Carbine, so I'm thinking this may be what the gun is but I'm not 100% sure. Any ideas? Also, don't know anything about the value of Krags. Any help on ID and value would be appreciated!
Cheers,
Matt

Great, thanks guys for the input!

So, am I correct in saying this is a Model 1907 Field Artillary Carbine?

Hi

What you have is a Norwegian Krag in 6.5x55. It’s not a Model 1907 Field Artillery Carbine, While it does exhibit some characteristics of that model. Norwegian Krags are kind of uncommon. Your rifle looks like the handguard ring has been machined off, leaving a gap between the barrel and the front of the receiver. Does the underside of the front sight have a ground off section?

If it does, it is most likely a WWII rebuild. The Germans did so many to try to make the krags conform the weight, length standards etc. Later they were made into Sporter rifles for the North American market.

Check this site out, it’s a bit wonky, but the information is sound.

Other interesting info, They shoot like crap with reg 139 gr 6.5x55 ammo. Not to be confused with the Swed load. It will shoot the Swedish load but not well. The Norwegian Krag was made to shoot a 160 gr bullet. Hornady makes them.

Thanks for the input guys. Especially interesting about the German rebuilds, never knew that before.
I've taken your advice and reposted in the Milsurp section.
Pete: Checked the front sight, it has not been grounded down.

Thanks again!
