I was poking around in a fellow's basement today and came accross a few great antiques...I wont even mention them. You'll drool all over the keyboard.

Two of his collection that he is willing to let go are a Scottish Martini (copy?)

Made by D&J Fraiser (with address in Edinburgh)

Has had different stocks put on it...Homemade oak jobbers. The bore looks to be about a 50 cal and the chamber has a huge bore that tapers down to the rifling. I havent done my research yet into calibers or anything so think me a fool:redface:

The other is a Husqvarna cape gun SXS with 9.?mm on the left and 18ga on the right.

Anybody know anything about the Martini?
 
Fraser was in business from 1873 to 1916 and is a reputable maker. The caliber sounds like 450 - 577 and you can probably get cases from Kerry Jenkinson, in Grand Forks, BC

Those martini henrys are really nice, I say check the bore and see if the action basically works, If its all basically good and not too expensive go for it!!
If the barell is in poor shape I believe you could find one fairly easily to replace it.

I have always wanted to strip one down and see how they work, I have seen alot of parts in antique stores."bayonets and such" And they just facinate me!!

And if you wanted I bet a set of origional stock pieces could be had.

Thats a hell of a find!!

Also is that old shotty there a percussion?? From the limited angle I can see it looks like it could have some potential.

nothing a 6 pack / a phosphor bronze bore brush and a whole lot of break free couldent remedy I bet.

The cape gun is a center fire double hammer. Bore looks good in both.

The bore in the Martini looks good as well.

Im not sure if I want to buy it from the guy though...just not my style.

He also has a beautiful original trapdoor...Not for sale..family heirloom.

He does have a complete trapdoor receiver with barrel that he literally tripped over in a field. I need to ask him where that was. The action is actually good but the barrel needs replacement. Would be a great project.

If a person is in to antique exposed hammer SXS's...He's god about 20. 12ga, 20ga and 410's

Alright, Here's the latest. Im picking up the martini and the cape gun this weekend...anyone interested??

I talked with the fellow and he said he would deffinitly sell the double hammers. I'll take some pics and notes this weekend for all of you that are interested.
