ID this Somali/Kenyan AR?

g3 > ar-15...any day!!!

This, sooo THIS^^

Who in their right mind would want to use a big, long, heavy old G3 for house to house urban combat in the sweltering heat of Somalia when they could have a 14.5" M4 with collapsible stock and do just as good a job (or possibly even better)? The G3A3 is a bit over 9 lbs empty and has a heavy 17.7" barrel, the M4 is 6.4 lbs empty and has a contoured barrel to keep front end weight down, also the barrel is only 14.5" long. 20 rds of big 7.62x51 in the G3 and 30 rounds of small 5.56x45 in the M4. Oh yeah, and also, most military 7.62x51 rounds wouldn't fragment in skinny little somali pirates and jihadis who rarely wear body armor.

Kevin B has no idea what he's talking about.

My ancestors were perfectly skilled at tactically bashing skulls in with 50lb rocks, and that's all any man needs to engage his enemy!

Anyone trying to argue otherwise is either newfangled or a wuss.

Clearly, your ancestors were pathetic sissies. They should've used 75 lb rocks.

You know the 75 pound rock is just not tactically feasible anymore, the bigger is better mantra is a thing of the past. The 50 pound rock is just as effective at engaging enemies and I can carry three of them compared to two 75 pound rocks. That’s a 50% increase in rock carrying capacity!

thats the main problem is we were using the C8A3 (should have been adopted forces wide with a KAC rail and Aimpoint with a flip magnifier) instead of the C7A2, with the POS triad rail there was simply no way to run the IR laser, surefire and M203, guys were bolting the lower rail (for the vert grip only) to the top standard handguard and then mounting the IR laser to that (not exactly a solid set up but its what some guys made due with who didnt buy there own quad rail) I bought a DD Omega Rail before deploying and didnt have to put up with the triad.

And I could get into other issues such as muzzle flagging in CQB with the rediculous 20" barrel and the lack of a variable magnification optic.
