yeah, why not modify the rifle to accept the legal mags? Might be lots of work just to say you can use 10 round mags, but it should be legal.

Although you would have to modify the the back of the AW mag to seat properly in a M14 hence they would then be prohib.Like I said, AICS single stack mags aren't hard to find in greater than five rounds. And the AW double stack mags are totally legally and available from a few channels.
Frankly the AW double stack looks totally doable.
I still like the idea of getting these stupid mag limit rules changed.
Quick... Someone make a beta c AIA mag .... Why stop at 30 when you could have 150
I'll add, the single stack mag idea is a no go. You would have to possibly modify the bolt as I mentioned before AND make a new barrel with a single feed ramp instead of the two it has now.
For any mag to function correctly it would have to be a clone of the AIA.... Or make a whole new bolt action for cheap, that uses a mag known to also work in the m14. In otherwords, we need someone to make aftermarket mags for the AIA, but who's gonna do that? There is simply not enough of those rifles to justify it.

Have someone make a cheap and ugly bolt action from scratch, that uses 20 round magazines. Call it the XYZ Bolt aciton rifle. Put some sort of notch or whatever in the rifle so that M14 mags won't fit but this bolt action rifle mags will fit in the M14. Submit the rifle for approval for manufacturing or whatever the process is...

I've got a no1 mk3 receiver in front of me. I'm no machinist but really, the thing is so damn simple internally. I think folks here would buy a new n improved no1MK3 in more useful calibers, based on the .308 case. .243, .308 and .338 federal
I'm gonna start working on some receiver and bolt drawings. China's not the only place that can reverse engineer stuff LOL

For the .308 family of cartridges, the way that AIA did it, using a No.4 pattern action is likely preferable to using a No.1 Mk.III. The receiver is essentially stronger and stiffer. Easier machining, too.

Any business manufacturing M-14 magazines could likely make a AIA compatible magazine. If there was an order large enough to justify changing their tooling to the AIA pattern.
I'd bet the AIA magazines were Asian in origin.
Good market for them, for use in a couple of different rifles.

I wonder if the M14 mags have the front notch cut after they are welded up. If so, they all start out life as a 'AIA' mag.
If I was an importer I'd order AIA mags instead of M305 mags.
I dunno what the hold up is. If the AIA mags were made in vietnam, china, taiwan, korea ect, they should be obtainable, by dealers for those wanting spare mags for a rifle that is sold in Canada. Who cares if it has compatability with any other rifle. The ONLY reason I haven't bought a AIA no4 is because it only comes with 2 mags and it seems impossible to aquire more. I'd like a minimum of 10 mags , regardless of the mags capacity.
As for why mags like this aren't manufactured here in canada... It can't be that difficult to set up a laser table , forming press, associated forming dies and a spot welder. Maybe we need a canadian magazine manufacturer. Look how many mags we buy and these must all be outsourced and imported. Seems silly to me that no one has done it yet.
