I have thought about this long before the handgun freeze. My 1862 pocket police is shorter (restricted) than a Luger (prohibited). I stopped trying to make sense out of gun laws along time ago.
The only and entire basis of these rules is to annoy gun owners and make gun ownership as onerous as possible so that fewer people choose to own guns. Their goal is to disarm all Canadians. Attempting to assign any other logic to the gun laws in Canada is a waste of time because the only logic is to eliminate civilian gun ownership. The whole barrel length argument is ridiculous with different frame sizes if concealment is truly the basis of the rule.
Rhymes with "Punt" gun...Vag carry. Bwahahaha
They are certainly easier to shoot, but I find 4 inch N frames in all cartridges work quite well for me. Old eyes, I guess. - danFor large calibers 44 mag and up I find 6.5 in is pretty much the minimum for good accurate shooting even out to 50... for anything underneath they weren't really designed for anything other than close-up shooting so any barrel length is pretty much fine... when you see in movies a guy shooting a 45 caliber 200 yd that's Pure Fantasy
I believe this to be true. They knew perfectly well that at the time the most common length was 4". And then to make extra sure they decided to measure at the forcing cone to exclude the chamber unlike with a semi-auto. Thereby banning most service revolvers and many collectibles. The 4.2" was picked to maximize the number of handguns prohibited.
9mm out to 100m is effective if you can watch fall of shot. For large calibers 44 mag and up I find 6.5 in is pretty much the minimum for good accurate shooting even out to 50... for anything underneath they weren't really designed for anything other than close-up shooting so any barrel length is pretty much fine... when you see in movies a guy shooting a 45 caliber 200 yd that's Pure Fantasy
Your issue should be with idiotic and ineffective laws only designed to hurt the law abiding. STOP trying to help the govt work against law abiding citizens and start complaining about the stupid law in its entirety. My issue with this arbitrary number is .....
LOL. You think there is logic involved in our gun laws? Thats cute .... foolish but cute.which makes zero logical sense
Why not just stop with the stupid and ineffective rules only meant to make life difficult for the law abiding? Why not adopt an overall size requirement? Take the smallest currently legal handgun and draw a square box around it.
A buddy who was an OPP officer in the 70s said during night traffic stops alone on Highway 11 in the middle of nowhere, he'd hold his handgun in his jacket pocket as he walked up to the car.......Used to hit value village before the shoots. And yes, you can shoot through the pockets. - dan
When I took my practical test for the RPAL the instructor " A very tiny female ex police from Johannesburg " laughed after she instructed me to to pick up a fifty cal revolver. I thought I was doing something wrong or mishandling the gun but she said " it looks so tiny in your hand " " don't worry your okay, you clearly understand triggers and muzzles." Cheers
I shot 40 out to 185 yards. Glock slights were not the most precise. But I wouldn't want to be anywhere within 200 yards inline of a pistol firing.9mm out to 100m is effective if you can watch fall of shot.
Yes, but I don't have one to use. LOLThere have been matches for 12-6 pistols.
Really? I find that a odd statement, guess you have not shot much with shorter barrels, like 4 in.For large calibers 44 mag and up I find 6.5 in is pretty much the minimum for good accurate shooting even out to 50... for anything underneath they weren't really designed for anything other than close-up shooting so any barrel length is pretty much fine... when you see in movies a guy shooting a 45 caliber 200 yd that's Pure Fantasy
Thank a Liberal. - danYes, but I don't have one to use. LOL
I don't believe this is accurate. The LPC and their oligarch backers and foreign interest groups are very much keeping gangs and criminals armed, I presume as the scapegoat to prevent citizen self defense.
