Ideal Reddot sight setup - Just thought I would share!

So I was recently on a hunt for a reddot, and a reddot mount for my Czeski (my dad and I nicknamed my that; the Polish word for "Czech", since my dad always refers to it as the "czech gun").

I got frustrated trying to figure out a good mount, since I didn't like the fabarm stuff, and I couldn't make my own due to a lack of Machining tools...I had AMAZING ideas....just couldn't make them happen.

Now, I had known about NEA stuff (as many of you have) for a long time, but had never paid it attention.

I was perusing the pages of the EE, and found a Vortex Strikefire reddot from a good guy, and bought it. I then thought, OH CRAP! ITS THE AR HIGH mount. #####.

Well, turns out it was lucky that I DID get that one.

As you can see in the pics, if you can get yourself an NEA handguard set, or just the upper like I did (off another great CGNer), then mount a Strikefire (or other Reddot) with the Vortex see through HIGH mount for the AR, you can still PERFECTLY use your iron sights!

So reddot + factory iron sight for long range/BU = WIN!

Just thought I would share this info with anyone else looking to get a really good setup going.

I am sure someone else already discovered this, but I am sure there are many people out there looking for a easy to use setup that allows for the use of the factory Iron Sights very well.

ALSO the field of view in my Vortex DOES not include the front Iron sight (it remains invisible). I only see it when I dip my head down and look through the see-through hole in the mount that I can line up my rear and front sights perfectly.

So it is 100% perfect in my opinion. Also, both products are very solid and amazing, also well priced (new or used). NEA upper handguard for the CZ858 and the Vortex Strikefire with the AR HIGH mount. :)

**SIDE NOTE: mind you, my NEA guard is probably going to get a nice matching coat of Krylon camo soon... I think the Optic will Stay Black...maybe not. LOL I love doing Camo work!).

I am surprised that you can see through that Vortex well without cheek riser. I have a Leupold scout scope in the same position and I need to attach cheek piece when I use scope and remove it when I use iron sights.

Do you have any pics of your cheek piece? I actually wouldn't mind one, since I am a big guy, and was curious to see how you set it up.

Also, you are using a leupold scope. You need it to be super precise and stable. I find that I just keep my head floating in the air when I use the Reddot, since its for quick target acquisition.

Still, I may build a cheek piece unit for it :)

It's not a bad setup, but the best setup IMO is the NEA with a T1.

It is a better quality optic and you don't need to shift your cheek weld as much to go from the optic to the irons...in fact you barely move to go from one to the other.

Of course there's not much of a cheek weld to be had with the folder anyway.

Meh.

I've not found one scope mount for the VZ V8 that gives me everything I want. So I just went back to irons.

I want a solid scope mount that you don't have to remove and that will give you access to irons. I've tried the NEA mount. I've tried the AK 47 style side mount. I've tried the Scout mount. None of them give me what I want.

I actually had a nice design in the works, but I don't have the means by which I can produce it. It was meant specifically for scopes, with the ability to work with red dot/holo optics as well.

Problem is, I need a machine shop to make it work. That, and access to scrap metal!

I agree with Clobbersaurus; the ideal VZ mount hasn't been made yet. The NEA with Micro-sized red dot is the best option so far IMO, but it's not ideal.

Well jeebus, way to piss on my parade! lol I was all happy having my red dot setup, and here you guys are, all saying that everything sucks.

Hey, for a recent graduate on a budget, I think I am doing pretty well! lol.

Once I can get a tool shop/scrap metal and parts, I will build my prototype and you guys can let me know what you think :)

Your set up doesn't suck. Calling it "ideal" is a stretch.

Good sir, I stretch everything I can. How do you think I am still alive? By the laws of Darwin, I should be long gone lol. If you can't be good at something, bulls**t your way through and look good enough doing it.

I think its ideal in the Under $250-300 budget!

LOL, in that category, you could make a case for "ideal".

You'd still lose out to a TRS-25 co-witnessed on the NEA rail, though.:)

hmmm I cant speak for quality yet but I'll be beating the crap out of a T1 clone from ebay. So far it seems solid, the adjustments are crisp and the dot is slightly clearer than my strikefire. For 50 bucks I dont care if it breaks

Pftt... sure, if we're going to get all "professional"....

I find the T1 and clones sit slightly high, making co-witness impossible under 400 m settings. The bushnell Trs-25 sits low enough?

Yes. It will co-witness at any rear sight setting. Mine gives roughly a bottom 1/3 co-witness, the same way I set up my AR.

What mount do you have on your T1?

I thought I had the lowest one, now I need to measure and check. It's close, but I find I can't see the rear notch on the lowest setting. I was tempted to adjust the front post so that my 100 zero was at the rear 400m setting.
